If he tries to do that the New York state government may just step in and attempt a takeover of Cablevision.

Got this email from cablevision.
"We regret to inform you that ABC's parent company has decided to pull WABC-7 off Cablevision, even though we pay them more than $200 million dollars a year for their group of networks. They are demanding a $40 million dollar increase for the same channels we carry today. In light of these economic times we do not feel it's appropriate for ABC to hold our viewers hostage in pursuit of undeserved millions.
Many of you just want WABC-7 back on your television. That's why we are working hard to get WABC-7 back on the air. You can help make a difference by visiting cablevision.com/abc and sending their executives an email expressing how you feel.
While we work to return WABC-7 to the lineup, you can watch WABC-7 free over the air by obtaining a digital TV antenna from your local consumer electronics store. Or, you can watch almost all of ABC's prime time programming free on the Internet at hulu.com or abc.com.
Thank you for your patience, while we continue to negotiate a deal that is fair for everyone."

I don't think Cablevision is as much at fault this time. Although, they've known this day was coming for like 2 years and I find it hard to believe they couldn't hammer out a deal in 2 years time.
Nothing like waiting until the last minute to get that book report done, huh.

Anyone know if these two sides are even close to a deal? I don't care much for ABC programming in general but I won't be happy if I have to wait a day to watch Lost.

ABC used to be free for Cablevision to broadcast and now they want $40 million a year which comes out to $1 per subscriber per month. This is from the same Disney that charges ISP's money for access to the ESPN website

Looks like my Oscar night is kinda saved, as channel 8 is still broadcasting ABC, from probably a CT or MA signal. However, I'm forced to watch it in SD now :/

Yup. I had flipped over to check and the cablevision crawl froze then went black. I thought, this is promising.

"In light of these economic times "
Yea the 8 billion they made last year in profit they can't afford it.

dammn - I didn't check back last night.
I turned it on this morning and it was there. wish I knew it was on last night , I would have watched some of the Oscars.
