Flashforward getting "retooled" too?

Has this been publicized before? The latest TV Guide uses the word in a paragraph about the show.

The show is obviously walking dead at this point. I've never seen a show recover from being "retooled", they universally get worse. Or, like Dollhouse, get a lot better after the initial run of network-driven episodes has run the show into the ground.

Yeah, but it's too late - ratings signify this is a goner unless V really bombs.

I have 5 or 6 eps on the DVR yet waiting to be watched - should I just forget about it?

I'd say Yes. I don't see ABC picking it up for another season.

Based on numbers alone, yeah it appears this show looks DOA. But, you never know. Alot of much lower rated shows have somehow made it to another season. Friday Night Lights with some help, The OC, Life, and Fringe's ratings are even worse than this, but it looks almost certain to come back a 3rd season even on a cluster fuck night like Thursday.

But, the 3+ month hiatus doesn't help. I've already invested 10 hours in this show, so I'm sticking with it at least until the end of this season. That's the chance you take when you watch a TV show. There is always uncertainty with it's future.

BTW, this may cause from grumblings, but ABC Studios is releasing Season 1 Volume 1 on February 23, 2010.

This show started out with a bang and after they raided that warehouse it just seemed to turn into a daytime soap for me. I'm not a nielsen viewer so it doesn't matter if I tune in or out.

I think they'll air the remainder of this season and give us a satisfactory closing. But I wouldn't expect it to be back next year. So if you like it, go ahead and watch them.

That said, I've tried really hard to like this show, but every week I find myself caring less about seeing the ending. So if you feel like that, why invest the hours?

BTW, I don't think this show needs retooling. What they needed was to make it a 6-10 hour miniseries instead. THAT would have been awesome. But what they have is 24 hours of mostly filler. Bleh.

From what I saw it was "returning" in March 2010. Isn't that normal?

usually, most shows return in January. But ABC is scared of NBC's Winter Olympics.

And the last show Davenport was on also had a "Season 1" dvd release before it was canceled; still waiting for Swingtown Season 2 CBS!

FNL was a critically acclaimed show that was cheap to produce with a bunch of no-names. Flash Forward is neither. Can't really comment on the rest since they are Warner/Universal productions and not Disney (and aired on Fox and NBC). Fringe is the odd-ball, but it'll get another go.

As for the DVD...notice no Blu-ray? Not a good sign. The show reeks Blu-ray demographic. A 3 month hiatus will kill it.

My question is, didnt they have a story mapped out before they started a show like this?
Maybe Braga couldn't cut the mustard?

Did you read EW a few weeks ago? They had an interview with David S. Goyer and from what I got out of it, he sounds like he knows what he's doing for the rest of the season. He also kind of mentions some tid bits for a season 2.

Brannon Braga, from that I understand, is not involved with this show on a day to day basis. He's working on season 8 of 24.

My thoughts exactly, if the warehouse you refer to was the toy/doll warehouse. havent watched an episode since then, though they are sitting on the Tivo. Its not that I dont enjoy watching the show, it just doesnt suck me in each week like other shows do, so I dont really look forward to it each week.

They should try making a character or two likable. As it is right now it doesn't have a single likable character.

What he said.

I have hours of this show on my DVR... I fast fwd through most of the show when I do watch it. I just don't care about the charachters.

And I do agree that the show became a soap opera instead of a sci-fi based show (which I liked)

Re: Flashforward getting "retooled" too?

I had all the episodes tivo'd, and never got around to watching any of them, just couldn't stomach getting involved in another 'Lost'-like confusing drama... I've since deleted them all.

Yeah I started watching and have the rest sitting on my dvr... Now contemplating if I should just give up now. Still have 24 to get caught up on since I didnt watch the final eps of season 7 and BSG to finish plus shows coming back in January so should probably just get out now.

My wife was just telling me she likes the show but to her its not a must see. She said if she's doing something (baking cookies , painting her toenails, etc.) she will not go out of her way to watch it like she would Supernatural.

I think (thought) this show was great.

If they kill this I guess I should read the book to get 'some' kind of closure.

How do you all think the show will be "retooled"? The most obvious thing management likes to do with shows like this is to deserialize them. That would defeat the point of the show, but I can see them ordering it.

Read the interview with Goyer from Entertainment Weekly from a few weeks ago. It mentions absolutely nothing about him re-tooling or fixing the show. It's going to stay serialized.

It doesn't mention retooling, but then he wasn't asked about the subject. If in fact no change in the show's direction is happening, why did TV Guide claim it was being retooled during the break?

Great idea for a (mini-)series, terrible execution. I dropped out when I could tell this was going to go nowhere.
