By djariya at 2011-06-01
Synopsis:
Spoiler:
12 episodes ordered.
Series Synopsis:
From the creator of "Criminal Minds," Jeff Davis, and the executive producers of "The 4400," Rene Echevarria and of "Prison Break" Marty Adelstein, "Teen Wolf" combines friendship and love in the context of horror and high school. "Teen Wolf" stars Tyler Posey ("Maid in Manhattan," "Brothers and Sisters"), as the newly bitten werewolf, 'Scott McCall,' Crystal Reed as the mysterious new girl in town, 'Allison,' Dylan O'Brien as Scott's best friend 'Stiles,' Tyler Hoechlin ("Road to Perdition," "7th Heaven") as the older werewolf, 'Derek Hale' and Holland Roden as 'Lydia,' the popular girl with a secret. Always an outsider and often unnoticed, Scott McCall yearns to be recognized in some small way that takes him out of his typical state of high school anonymity. When his best friend, Stiles, convinces him to go into the woods one night to join a police search for a dead body, Scott encounters a creature in the darkness. Narrowly escaping an attack with a vicious bite in his side, the next day brings strange surprises for Scott at school and his life will never be the same.

Premieres tonight at 11pm. Another episode will air tomorrow night at 10pm
I normally wouldn't even bother with MTV. But since this is actually a scripted drama similar to Vampire Diaries, I will give this a try.

It has nothing to do with the Michael J. Fox/Jason Bateman movies other than the name.

My bias against MTV makes me think it will automatically be crappy. If it was on any other channel, even the weather channel, i would have higher hopes.

I will give it a try, but I doubt I will stick with it, because it looks like it will be too much like twilight and the vampire diaries.

I'll give it a try. Much to my surprise, I've enjoyed MTV's original scripted comedy (The Hard Times of RJ Berger)...I'll give this a try to see if they can succeed with a drama.

Take the classic Michael J. Fox comedy Teen Wolf, add all the worst parts of the Twilight films, and take away the classic Michael J. Fox comedy Teen Wolf and this is what you get!

I did watch this.
Honestly, I'm not sure what to think of it yet. I'm going to need to watch Monday's episode to get a better assessment. Alot of this episode was just setup. It looks to me the show is really low budget. Part of that comes from being directed by Russell Mulcahy, who is a pretty well known B movie director. But, this is an MTV production and not a CW production so I will give it the benefit of the doubt. If you want to compare this to something similar, I would say The Vampire Diaries on the CW blows this away as far as acting, production value, sets and special effects. Scott's wolf makeup sucks if you ask me. The show probably doesn't have the budget to pull off Tyler's wolf makeup/effects on The Vampire Diaries.
I thought it was interesting that they gave Jeph Loeb, who wrote the original Teen Wolf, a co-written credit on this.
I do think Crystal Reed (Allison) is pretty hot. And go figure her Dad is a wolf hunter as well.

Re: Teen Wolf -- New Horror-Drama Series -- "Wolf Moon" -- 6/05/11
I watched the first half of this before work this morning and I have to say that so far I like what I've seen. I had very low hopes going into this knowing that it would be on the same production levels as ABC Family (maybe even lower) but so far I'm already interested in the characters and where they might go with the mythos. But I will say the acting leaves a little to be desired.
I'll probably try to stick with it for at least a few more episodes to see where it goes.

You know this is actually not bad if your a fan of this genre.
I still hate Scott's wolf makeup and I thought they spent too much time at the Lacrosse game, but the episode moved pretty fast and alot of the drama was engaging. It was interesting to see Scott struggling with the transformations. Stiles is actually a decent sidekick.
I really like the actress who plays Allison. Really pretty girl and is actually a decent young actress. But, I think her relationship with Scott has moved a little too fast. It's only episode 2. I don't think Elena hooked up with Stefan until several episodes into the 1st season of The Vampire Diaries.
I knew I recognized 2 people on this show. Colton Haynes (Jackson) and Linden Ashby (the sheriff) both starred together on the cancelled ABC show "The Gates" from last summer.
