Yeah, great episode.

I thought they were going to reveal that Peter was from the other world.

Didn't they already reveal that? Hence the coffin that made Walter start crying?

That and the lady who could see a halo around people from the other world, then they showed Peter through her eyes and he had an aura about him.

I think that it is well established that Dr. Bishop took Peter from the other world... and I think that Dr. Bishop even said it out right once. Can't remember when though.

Yeah, I meant that Walter was going to reveal that to Peter.

Only Walter and us know about that. I'd be interesting when they reveal that to everybody.

Re: Fringe -- "Grey Matters" -- 12/10/09

Got turned onto this show late. Just finished season one dvds. Gonna be hard wait for season two so I can pick up where left off. The dates on Peter's grave make him out to be seven years old when he died. Why doesn't this Peter know he's from the other side. Seven is old enough to remember something like that. There is talk of a car accident involving water, where the Observer pulled Peter and Walter from the car. Wonder if thet was when Walter took the other Peter. Given the location of portal at that lake. Walter and Peter drove through portal in car and ended up in lake on this side. Also wonder if this has something to do with Peter calling him Walter instead of Dad.

Perhaps the blight hadn't set in yet so that world was essentially that same as "this one"?

My question is was Walter remembering at the end or were they doing that flashback for our benefit?

I liked the hip references:

Re-Animator
Stuart Gordon
Mrs. Crampton
Mr. West

HP Lovecraft
Dunwich (Hospital)

The Man Who Fell To Earth
Thomas Jerome Newton was Bowie's character

Pretty solid episode.

Very cool opening scene with the open skull and brain exposed.

Did anyone catch the Observer this episode? It was a blink and you will miss him situation.

I put an arrow next to him.

Fringe

I didn't quite get the final scene with Walter and William Bell. Was that a recollection from Walter's past? It looked like his hair was a little darker.

Yes, it explained how and why Walter & Bell decided to remove Walter's memories of how to build that portal. The "others" (let's borrow that word from Lost) obviously learned of this scheme and put Humpty-Dumpty back together again to get this information.

What I don't understand is that these "others" are from the other side and so must already know how to travel between universes. So why do they need this information?

Maybe it's one way only or something. I'm sure we'll find out...

Well, I thought the deal was they can but their method has mortal consequences and basically tears you up. They want Walter's method so they can do it with more success like he and Bell did.

Furthermore, I wouldnt be surprised if Walter's rig had something to do with causing "the blight." But, basically, we know they are looking for a way to set things right (the old switcheroo, remove the blight from their world and give it to ours, maybe?, or just have their people crossover and replace ours), thus the whole war they've hinted at.

Yes, I almost convinced myself I didn't see what I thought I saw. It was that quick of a glimpse.

Best part for me was when the "real" Walter personality came out for a short period of time after they hooked him up to the brain pieces. Perhaps a glimpse of what to expect if we ever get to see the Other Side Walter?

Can they only animate Nimoy for a few minutes every month or something? He was in the "previously on" segment for longer than he was in this episode...

Maybe they came through when Walter had it open before, and now can only communicate with the other side (like with that crazy typewriter).

They clearly need a way to keep the portal open permanently.

Anyone else notice their "1 C3PO 1" license plate in this episode. They've used "1 R2D2 1" a few times in the past.

Man, my color blindness really made this one difficult. Studied the picture on four separate occasions before finally seeing that faint red arrow.

Ohhh, there is a red arrow there isn't it. I kept seeing a white arrow point down over to the right by a lamp post I think.

Got to this episode a little late. Good stuff. Esp since the director of the classic, Supergirl helmed this one.

Re: Fringe -- "Grey Matters" -- 12/10/09

Was this the final episode of the season or a midseason finally? I just thought it was strange that there were no previews for the next episode or at least mention of when it comes back after it was over.

Returns January 14th. There is a sticky on the top of this forum that has all the return dates for shows. I know most people in this forum ignore the sticky's, but I did that thread for a reason.
