Everything about this episode seemed rush to finish up all the storylines. It was almost laughable.

Next episode will start with: 5 years later...

I liked it.

I think Carl's dead. Bree lost her twins as a result of saving Gabbys daughter and Susan will still be annoying as hell.

Carl being dead would make the most sense, except the nurse looks like she was a goner too...LOL

First a Tornado, and now this..... I would be moving out of that neighborhood in a heartbeat! lol

So predictable that they'd get rid of that character once she learned the truth. That drove the plot forward for a whole half-episode.

I'm glad Mona's gone. I've never cared for blackmail plots. It seems as if Karl is a goner. Marc Cherry is having a great time getting rid of the friendly-antagonistic characters. First Edie now Karl. They kept coals in the fire even when the mysteries would ebb and flow. The look on Gaby's face when she screamed for Celia was too much. She was horrified. I love Eva's acting. I wish they'd get rid of Katherine. It was nice to see Dylan again.

I LOLed at the inside of that Santa Shack though. It was huge! The outside was about the size of a shed and I could tell the inside was some elaborate set on a soundstage.

I pretty much only half-pay-attention to this show nowadays, but why was the blackmailer asking for such a precise figure ($67,000)?

She needed a year's living expenses so she could change careers.

I kind of think Orson is dead. I was wondering what use his character will be after Bree divorces him.

I was thinking that, too. It felt like the writers were making one last stab at swaying the audience to his side after being crushed by Bree. Now he goes out on a more sympathetic note, making the loss more tragic to both Bree and the audience. In theory at least. ;)

I changed careers not too long ago after losing the job I had at that time. Damn if that blackmailer wasn't right on the money! It took me about 9 or 10 months to find a new full-time job in a different career. I wish I had thought about blackmailing someone during that time.

Which would make the second time Bree was having marital problems and her husband was suddenly killed (counting the phony heart medication prescribed to husband #1).

Just a wrench into things... despite what was onscreen, the voiceover didn't say that the dead person was in the Santa house

I think Carl is dead.

Spoiler:
one of the casualties would be someone who was on the show from Season 1.

I'm guessing it's Karl and Orson. There's no way they're killing off Bree.

I'm going with the grass. No way it survives with all that traffic it took.

I can see that, too. That could create an interesting storyline with Bree being widowed and losing her guy on the side.

Chew 12-08-09 09:00 AM

The plane:

1) takes out the only one who knows the season secret
2) Lynette's twins are likely lost
3) eliminates one or more of Bree's men

That's certainly one powerful plot device.

My wife pointed out that she thought it looked like a female's hand sticking out. I know they wouldn't kill off Bree. Maybe it was her and she's just hurt? Also, I didn't pay attention to the surroundings of the Santa house while Carl and Orson were fighting. Were there any Christmas character mannequins in there? Could the hand be that was sticking out be a "toy" hand? ( red herring ). I know I saw blood on the hand, just trying to think of all options.

Re: Desperate Housewives -- "Boom Crunch" -- 12/06/09

The hand also did not have a wedding band. I would assume orson still wore one. So that was probably carls hand. Not to say that he can't be alive and orson dead. but thats my guess as to whos hand it is. :)

I don't think they would 'kill off' Lynette's twins. More likely, her saving Celia will allow her and Gaby to make up.

Marc Cherry confirmed
Spoiler:
the plane would claim three lives.

"one minor character, one central and one who's been on the show since Season One"

Looks like the minor character is the nurse, central character is Orson, and the latter is Karl. No effing way they off Bree.

Doubtful the two in the plane are counted in this tally.

cliffzig, I added spoiler tags to your post since some people might not want to know that information ahead of time, even though Cherry teased it in the media.

yeah, I am scratching my head at the thought that Lynette could have a miscarriage just by running and pushing Celia out of the way. It is not as if she was hit or anything.

It's Desperate Housewives, it doesn't have to make sense.

Thanks cliff, that sounds about right to me. I love having DVR and being able to use slow motion to look at the cheesy CGI. The clipping of the nurse was a trip!

As for Lynette, I'm surprised that what Carlos put her through hasn't caused some kind of complications. Just watching the storyline last week stressed me out. When Carlos was whining to Gaby about possibly losing his job, I couldn't care less. He is the root and cause of all that drama.

I am just curious who was killed. Not much else about the show to hold my interest anymore.

It was a woman's hand. If that was a guys hands, then that was one petite hand!

I think McClusky is a goner. She's been there since the first season and has had some IRL health problems (which is why she was gone for most of the season and just popped in the last week or two)

I really hope not. I LOVE that character! She really adds great wit to the show, and I can't imagine it without her.

I knew the pilot looked familiar. That's Dan Castellaneta, the voice of Homer Simpson!
