Don't get me wrong -- I'm fond of the hero of Canton, but there's no comparison. Stack up Adam against William, sure. Daniel, maybe. There's just no contest career-wise between Adam and Alec.

I think there was a season of SNL where the only episode I watched was one he hosted and I only watched it because he always does a good job on SNL

Jed: I have an M.D. from Harvard, I am board certified in cardio-thoracic medicine and trauma surgery, I have been awarded citations from seven different medical boards in New England, and I am never, ever sick at sea. So I ask you; when someone goes into that chapel and they fall on their knees and they pray to God that their wife doesn't miscarry or that their daughter doesn't bleed to death or that their mother doesn't suffer acute neural trama from postoperative shock, who do you think they're praying to? Now, go ahead and read your Bible, _Dennis_, and you go to your church, and, with any luck, you might win the annual raffle, but if you're looking for God, he was in operating room number two on November 17, and he doesn't like to be second guessed. My favorite leading role with him is Hunt for Red October. I also enjoyed his roles in The Departed, The Cooler and obviously Glengarry Glen Ross.

I think some people are just ultra critical of their own work, and not just actors. Sometimes people have a hard time seeing their own work the way others see it.

I think he's a talented big fat egotistical dick. Only he could call his career a failure and still ooze pride. Basically he comes across like "I never got the success I so obviously deserve because I'm not mentioned in the same breath as Brando, Nicholson, Newman, DeNiro and Day-Lewis." He makes his "failure" seem like the failure of the film industry and the moviegoing public.
Won't miss him terribly, but he's given a handful of fantastic performances. And his voice could charm the panties off Sarah Palin herself.
