But the old Monk has been gone for two seasons.
I did not know we only had two episodes left. Last weeks was good in that he has moved on from the past and I hope they end up going out with a bang.

Given we knew what would happen in these episodes, it was far too obvious "whodunit". It's also pretty obvious that the present will provide the clues Monk needs. Now he'll be torturing himself with that the rest of his life....however long that is.
Still, an entertaining hour and I'll miss ol' Monk too.

I enjoyed it despite the shortcomings. This show has been so bad for so long; it's such a damn shame. I really loved the first four seasons. Nevertheless, I'll miss everyone's favorite obsessive compulsive detective.

^ I agree. The past few seasons have been pretty bad especially in regards to the writing. They totally abandoned Trudy's murder and filled episodes with inane plots. But the show survived because of Tony Shalhoub and the supporting cast.
Kind of off-topic, but at first it was strange replacing Sharona with Natalie -- two different personalities -- but when she returned in that one episode recently, it made me appreciate Natalie even more...

I'm not crazy about the revelation that Monk may have been sitting on the needed evidence for 12 years.

It also seems weird that Adrian has been given a death sentence and Sharona and Ambrose are nowhere to be found. Randy had a ticket to Newark in his pocket, and I'm sure that meant he was going to see Sharona. Maybe she will show up in part 2, although I've heard nothing about it.
Overall it was still very entertaining, and I am looking foward to next week.

Those are the exact ones I have on DVD, and I agree with you 100%.

I thought I'd miss Sharona. But I ended up preferring Natalie. Even though the writing was sharper during the Sharona seasons, the Natalie character has been a better fit.

I pick Randy (or whatever the dumb cops name is). He seemed a bit too jumpy in this episode (questioning Monk, not making it in time to the control tower, the poisoning). Plus, he would get Monks old job if he retired, right? (12 years ago?). I've only watched bits and pieces of the show over the years.

That's who I think it is. Randy has always been a buffoon, and it drives me crazy. Besides, the judge called in the hit long before Randy messed up at the train station.
Those two have always been interchangeable to me. Even though I started watching after Natalie came along, I saw one episode (Mr. Monk Goes Home Again when it originally aired) and immediately rented the first three seasons on DVD and had a marathon.

I was under the impression (Entertainment Weekly?) it was two people who did it - one being the very obvious choice above and another.

The closer Friday gets the sadder I am about loseing Monk.
What's going to be the replacement show? White Collar?

I didn't think about that until you mentioned it, but the wipes make perfect sense. I'm no longer dealing with spoiler tags because everyone reading this thread should've seen part 1 and if not they must want to ruin the surprise. Besides, we are only speculating.
