The League - "The Bounce Test" - 11/05/09

"The Bounce Test"
Spoiler:
Pete's split with Meegan sends ripples through the tight-knit group; Ruxin tries to reunite them, for his own selfish reasons.

Just a heads up. This isn't registering as a new episode on my dvr. I had to set it up to record just the one episode.

I had no idea Catalina's accent was fake.

Yeah, that was great, but it seems like the only thing that is really funny.

I look at this as a show that is able to use cuss words as a crutch for laughs because the plot/writing is dull.

Maybe it's crude, but I think it's funny.

I liked it. It feels like just hanging out with a group of regular guys.

Adding Catalina doesnt hurt either. Adding Catalina doing Yoga means this gets a season pass.

Peyton Manning for Torry Holt and Fred Taylor? That would be my last year in The League.

The pilot was good but this episode was great, really liking this show. I agree with the whole "regular guys" vibe. It's a show that brings up some admittedly outlandish situations (banging a girl in the backseat of her boyfriends prius right after meeting her) but they seem semi believable because most aspects of the characters and other situations are pretty realistic. I call that smart writing.

Not if there is a bonus for playing guys older than hell in the league.

I had no idea how crude this show would be...where's that season pass button...

I actually like the pretty sly insights into marriage, especially after kids.

Paraphrased: " If i get divorced, i go from 50 percent of my time, maybe 35 percent of the time, to 50 percent of my time, 100 percent of the time"

VERY common sentiment among the men i know.

No kidding - blackmail or not, that trade would be vetoed SO fast by the other managers in any normal league.

I also like the line where Ruxin said Pete needed to be married and have kids so they would only be on the same level playing field.

found the quote you're referring to:

No. If Sophia and I split up, 50 percent of my time I would have to spend 100 percent of my time with my kid. Right now, I'm rocking like 50 percent coverage 30 percent of my time, you cannot beat those numbers. Also? If we got a divorce? She would get half of my money, making me ostensibly poor, yet still paying her to just get pounded by other dudes, which will happen because she is still smoking hot, whereas I look like a Nazi propaganda cartoon of a Jew.

If they didn't veto the outright trading of first round picks, i don't think they'll veto this. Though I'm surprised that this guy is the one being continually screwed, I thought the doctor would be the one. I think that was the only tie in to fantasy football in this ep, right?

Re: The League - "The Bounce Test" - 11/05/09

yeah, only FF moment that I recall.

Wasn't the earlier trade the #1 for the other guy's first rounder and a throw-in player or pick? It's bad, but not nearly as bad as Manning for Taylor/Holt.

edit: watched it again - it was #1 overall for #6 overall, and the client goes to jail for 5 years. These guys need to make their shady blackmail trades more believable. :)

Yep. My guess is that the league has had many crazy trades over the years. My leagues don't even have any formal vetoing rules.
