Supernatural -- "I Believe the Children Are Our Future" -- 10/15/09

Supernatural

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Sam and Dean investigate a series of murders that echo fairy tales and urban legends. Their probe leads them to an 11-year-old boy who's able to make everything he believes come true. Castiel thinks the lad is a threat and wants him eliminated.

Here's some information regarding the November 5th episode:

Spoiler:

Episode 5.08 "Are You There God? It's Me, Sam Winchester"
(November 5)

This is the episode with all the TV parodies, and it will feature Sam and Dean experiencing life as a sitcom, a Japanese game show, CSI and Grey's Anatomy. If you're wondering how the Winchesters get into this mess, may I suggest watching "Tall Tales" and "Mystery Spot" again. That's right, our old pal the Trickster is back for more fun.

Sounds fricking awesome!!

I do have some bad news to report. Episode 10 on November 19th will be the last new episode of 2009. The show will go on break until 2010.

I don't mind the upcoming break, because they will be ten episodes in on a 22 episode season, they will have to spread out the season until May. Besides the holiday challenge will begin the next week.

So is there a break between this week and November 5th?

Next week is a repeat. Then they will run 4 episodes in a row before taking a break.

That synopsis sound oddly familiar. When I first saw it on the channel guide this morning I thought it was a repeat.

Pretty good episode, should be interesting to see how he pops back up in the future.

I liked Dean putting Cas on the mantle

Is the title a Witney Huston reference?

How is a 1/2 demon 1/2 human more powerful than either? Good episode though!

Man, I was so into this ep it wasn't even funny. It felt "bigger" than the normal stuff, even if the kid doesn't come back. This really felt like 2 episodes in one. You had the ghoul of the week, with the weird happenings of the town, and then all of the anti-christ stuff felt like a mythology ep.

That kid was so badass.

Actually spelled Whitney Houston - but, yes, those are the opening words to the song "Greatest Love Of All" (although given a dark twist with the Antichrist). Good catch!

that kid's character was right out garth ennis' preacher comic. he's even named jesse. i wonder if ennis was paid royalties for that character's similarities. i'm sure that jesse will turn up again in later episodes.

In comic and fantasy lore, it's pretty common for 'halfcasts' to be more powerful.

E.g. Blade, Hellboy etc

Yeah, I read the tivo guide info on this ep and thought it alot like the one with the doctors daughter in a coma.

As for the second spolier in the OP, didnt they already use that title in season 4?

Do they pay royalties for the titles they use? This weeks title (I Believe the Children Are Our Future), next weeks title (The Curious Case of Dean Winchester)? They had an episode titled "I know what you did last summer" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester" all blatantly borrowed from other works.

Saw Jared Padalecki playing poker last night at a casino on the Oklahoma-Texas border. Man, I didn't realize how tall he was.

Yeah, he's about 6'4" while Jensen is around 6'1" (probably more like 6'0").
