Re: Flash Forward -- "137 Sekunden" -- 10/08/09

Again - the personal stories are :boring: I find myself fast forwarding through them to get to the plot of the story.

I guess it is official that they are not going to talk about the millions of deaths that were caused by the "blackouts" (almost every person on the highway would have died - the roads would be littered with piles of cars, that would act as barriers keeping emergency vehicles, medical supplies, workers, fire trucks etc from reaching their destinations) Buildings would have burned out of control spreading with the wind. etc..

 that a prisoner in Germany was the only one who noticed dead crows.

I'm sure we all remember the "bird flu" from 2007-2008. If they found a dead bird in a park it was all over the news and front page news on the newspapers.

I'm sure everyone would be linking the dead birds to some sort of weapon of mass destruction .

Question: When they showed the graph of the birds - they showed 4 months or so after the drop off (the recovery of the birds).. is the timeline of the show now 4 months into the future?

Oh and a "Murder" is a group of crows (that is why the nazi guy said "I'm free because of a murder.")

-rolleyes- at the whole googling crow deaths concept. The whole way they led up to it was so contrived.

I think it's interesting how a lot of these prophesies are becoming self fulfilling. Dude saw himself working security and so he applied for a security job. Lady saw herself with a kid and notices the kid later.

Should be interesting to see how people start behaving as the flash forward day approaches. If people had a bad experience, will they try to avoid the things that lead up to it?

That's the stupidity of it. He obviously wasn't the only one who noticed since the Audubon Society already had it it all graphed in a matter of days, so surely many had reported it. But  that nobody already thought to pursue that angle.

Also, do we know if (besides crows) humans were the only lifeform that blacked out? If so, then that makes the crow deaths all the more important. If not, then the fact that crows fall from the sky is hardly important (one would presume all birds did).

and how is it that Gabrielle Union saw him alive in her FF, but Noh gets murdered a month earlier (and i guess nazi-guy was referencing Noh's murder?)
She saw herself at her wedding, but she did not (at least as far as they showed us) actually see Noh.

The "murder" the Nazi was refering to was a murder of crows (a group of crows is called a "murder.")

i suspect if she does end up pregnant it's probably gonna be Benford (maybe that is what kills the marriage)
My money is on Noh.

Didn't she say she saw him there. You think she was lying?

My guess is that he won't be killed. Probably just knocked unconscious or something like that.

She probably assumed it was him. She was pretty far away when she was walking down the beach towards the groom.

Maybe so. But these visions seem to be more than just visual. Most people describe a feeling along with it. Seems like she would realize it was someone else.

This is what I was thinking.

Lloyd Simcoe didn't recognize Dr. Benford when he met her, even though in her FlashForward, they were together (she only saw him from the back and heard his voice; he never saw her or heard her).

We don't know exactly how the FFs work, but if she woke up thinking "I'm getting married to the man I love!" she may not have realized the man she loves was not Noh.

What I'm wondering is whether Noh busted the customs dude over the bong.

True. I still kinda think it would be tacky to schedule a wedding to a man on the same day you were planning marrying another (dead) man. Maybe she was going to lose her deposit.

And would it have prevented him from getting the job if he did? ;)

It appeared to be no frills. But yeah, still would be quite tacky.

The more I think about this episode, the more insulted I feel. Everything involving the Nazi and crows was just asinine. And Kabbalah = 137? Really? Are we going to get an episode where someone folds a dollar bill a certain way to reveal some other profound clue?

Man, that Gabrielle Union is way out of Sulu's league. That's fantasyland right there.

did you know the "E" on the word "One" on the one dollar bill looks like the legend of zelda triforce...

This episode was just horrible and really makes me think less of the show.

Agree, bad episode.

So here they are investigating a mass loss of consciousness, trying to figure out what caused it and what not, and they have to jump through the Nazi crow hoops to find out they had a report on file of previous incidence of mass loss of consciousness? Do these guys just really suck at their job?

And why doesn't the FBI guy take down the picture of the nazi from the BB and put up a tag that says "Dead Crows" or "Somalia, 1991" and save himself a trip to Munich and freed a Nazi? They had him burn his daughter's friendship bracelet last week, but mostly everyone is just going along for the ride. Even they guy who thinks he's going to be murdered isn't rocking the boat.

There will be some episodes like this. I think they can keep entertaining like 24, I'll keep watching. But if it goes like Jericho, that I watched most of the first season and then got bored...

Re: Flash Forward -- "137 Sekunden" -- 10/08/09

The Nazi portion should have been more compelling because the information was trivial compared to releasing him; the only reason why they thought it was important was because the FlashForward "said so" but that didn't make it correct. It was a wasted opportunity to question what means are justified for an event that is quasi-predetermined solely because it's known ahead of time.

Re: Flash Forward -- "137 Sekunden" -- 10/08/09

My thoughts for episode 3:

still haven't memorized the characters' names, so....

John Cho's character tripping over the bong. HAHAHA. Him and Kumar had some good times.

The Nazi storyline was very interesting. Though that crow population up-to-date data statistics thing for October 2009 made me roll my eyes (unless I was mistaken).

More familiar cast members. ARGH! I don't like that. Gabrielle Union and Gina Torres! Need some fresh faces. LOST and the early seasons of 24 did a very good job of that. Hire some unknown actors/actresses and introduce us to new talent.

I liked the establishing shot of the Seattle airport, with all the crashed planes laying around. I thought that was a nice bit of continuity, but I wondered why the airlines would start flying again without cleaning off the fuselage off the runways first.

We watched the end shot a few times... thoughts? It could be a ship of some sort, but upon repeat viewing, it looks like it could be some sort of reaction/interference coming from that tower.

Re: Flash Forward -- "137 Sekunden" -- 10/08/09

It was an okay episode. Basically a wild goose chase that went nowhere.

I thought the Nazi guy's storyline should have been alot more compelling than it actually was. The whole thing at the end with the crows and flashing back to Somalia in 1991 was a big WTF moment. Mark (Joseph Fiennes) definitely got played by the Nazi guy.

So now Mark's sponsor's FlashForward was just a figment of his imagination?

Kinda of interesting that Demetri's fiancee saw her wedding day and he didn't.

Zero chemistry between John Cho and Gabrielle Union. She's way way out of his league.

If only to reassure the passengers. Taxiing past a bunch of "dead planes" would not give me a warm, comfy feeling.

As I was watching this episode, I was enjoying it - but then by the time it was over, it really felt like a whole lot of tripe. I'll stick with it since the first two were great, but really weak episode.

This wasn't a very good episode. I thought the Nazi angle was extremely weak, and the crow-Googling was ridiculous. A few more episodes like this (especially in a row) and I'm out.
