A good episode. Not as good as last week though. It had good moments. The cheese cart was fantastic and Toby/Dwight storyline was hilarious all the way through. I'm pretty sure this is the first time Toby and Dwight had a storyline together but I say they do it more often.

I'm surprised everyone liked the opening. I thought it was incredibly forced and not clever at all. It was just another example of how the writers have turned good characters into sterotypes. Oscar is JUST the gay guy and all of his jokes will revolve around his gayness.

I thought the episode was mostly "meh". I really liked the Dwight/Toby/Darryl stuff but other than that it was pretty boring. A step down from last week, and I thought last week was a step down from the last few eps of Season 5.
But of course, I still love The Office and I'm not going anywhere.

Works for me! In Michael's mind, Oscar IS a stereotype, and nothing more. So your description is exactly consistent with the character they're writing for.

True. Actually, Michael's views of everyone in his office "family" are almost completely devoid of any real humanity. He uses stereotypes to categorize all of them, so it's easier for him to know how to relate to them individually. Almost all his interactions are based on those stereotypes, unless a specific situation arises that requires them to play a different role for him.

Except it's not just with Michael. Last week it was Andy and there have plenty of times that it was Kevin, Dwight or Angela. The only normal interaction Oscar has with anyone anymore is with Jim and Pam and the interaction between those 3 is minimal.

Oscar is now in the same leauge as Meredith as far as being a one note character. It's ok with Meredith because she's such a small character that gets a line or two an episode but Oscar used to be a major character. I guess it's ok that they downgraded him, but I liked him when he'd be around more as a compliment to the normalcy we get from Jim and Pam.
