Glee -- "Preggers" -- 9/23/09

Glee

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

While Kurt tries out for the football team (taking a page from the glee playbook with him), Rachel storms out of glee practice when Will gives a plum part to Tina. Meanwhile, Sue comes up with a new plot to boost her program at glee's expense; and Quinn has news for Finn.

Looking forward to it.

This news is 2 days old, but FOX ordered the back 9 episodes. We are getting 22 episodes of Glee.

I assume that means we'll see a significant gap between Episodes 13 and 14. Still very exciting news!

Well if they start writing and filming right now, I don't think the break will be that huge. Plus, they already completed filming the initial 13 episodes over the summer, so they have a huge advantage getting the extra episodes completed in time. Most shows are only 5-6 weeks ahead.

Re: Glee -- "Preggers" -- 9/23/09

I really liked the episode and it was nice to see some depth added to the characters. That being said, why were there only two songs tonight? I'm not counting "Single Ladies" because that wasn't the Cast of Glee. Seriously, the episode needed a little more music.

I love Rachel's voice and all, but her character is already wearing thin. She is way too pretentious and thinks she is the greatest person in the world. It was good that Mr. Schuester didn't give her that solo; just exposes her as not being a team player. And she wonders why people dislike her?

Also, I'm really glad they went that way with Kurt being gay. They avoided the cliche of the father not accepting the son as gay, and had him already be aware and accepting of it. It was a nice touch and avoided a lot of unnecessary conflict that might have otherwise dragged the show down.

Where Rachel is concerned, I think they're leaving lots of room for her to be knocked down a few notches over time, and eventually do more for the club instead of herself. I thought she was going to be a more central character when the show started, but over the last few episodes they've taken her down some with her actions, and built others up by showing their warmer sides, like Quinn. They're creating a good balance with the characters and stories.

Agree with you on the Kurt thing. I loved the way he finally said "I'm gay", and how the second word just kind of fell out of his mouth apprehensively. He was being strong, but still a little scared of what his father would think. Very good scene. They gave the feeling that Kurt's father was going to be the sterotypical "No, not my son", denial type of father, but he turned out to be a cool guy. Good casting of Mike O'Malley. It's actually starting to look like Kurt is the only one who thinks everyone doesn't know he's gay.

"Is the baby Black???" :-) Extra funny because of her role on Nip/Tuck!

Re: Glee -- "Preggers" -- 9/23/09

So I wonder if Brittany going over to Kurt's house means that she's becoming friends with the Glee kids or if she's still fully onboard with Sue's sabotage Glee campaign.

I'm sure it's probably because Heather Elizabeth Morris is the best dancer, but it was kind of strange to see her hanging out with just Kurt and Tina.

I'm imagining the plot kind of hanging in the background while other things transpire, and they'll either spring something diabolical out of nowhere, or Sue will be dismayed to learn that her girls actually like being in the club and won't do her bidding anymore. Either way, it'll be entertaining.

I know I said this last week, but: Heather Elizabeth Morris =

I think the

This show brings out laughter from me, so I'm in for the long haul. There are touches of poignancy that are rare in our current TV landscape, and when the show swings for the fences, it rarely misses.

The only bad thing I can say about tonight's episode is that it put that damn song in my head again. Jeez.

I did LMAO when the football team went into the routine.

That got a good laugh from me as well.

Sue: Not everyone is going to have the walnuts to take a pro-littering stance, but I will not rest until every last inch of our fair state is covered in garbage. It's why I pay taxes. It keeps garbage men earning a living. So they can afford tacos. For their family.

Sue: Boy, the only thing missing from this place is a couple dozen bodies limed and rotting in shallow graves under the floorboards

Puck: Hey ankle grabber. I had sex with your mother. No, seriously. I cleaned your pool and then I had sex with her in your bed. Nice Star Wars sheets.

Another winning episode - and really appreciate the gay-positive approach regarding Kurt.

I loved the dance/video at the beginning of the episode.
