The eighth season begins with Delko fighting for his life after being discovered unconscious in the Everglades. Meanwhile, Horatio recalls how his team first came together 12 years earlier while working a homicide investigation involving a woman who was shot and later discovered by Delko in the trunk of a car.

My 1st season watching CSI Miami in HD. Looking forward to it.

Some casting changes that you may or may not be aware:

Spoiler:

Adam Rodriguez (Delko) is leaving the show. This is his final episode.

Eddie Cibrian, formerly of Third Watch, Ugly Betty, is joining the cast.

This episode supposedly explains the orgins of H's infamous:

one of the spoilers is incorrect, as
Spoiler:
Rodriguez is not leaving in this episode, but will gradually come to that decision some time later - he will be in about 7 or 8 episodes this season

It just started and the effect of making the cast, especially H look younger is very impressive. David Caruso said in an interview about it that it was done by the effects people behind the "Benjamin Button" aging effects.

I thought it was funny how they talked about running the DNA through PCR like it was some sort of some super new technological advance when we were doing them in my undergrad genetics class during that same time period

I caught this in the hotel room I was staying at while on mini vacation. Thought it was a good season opener. I was really impressed how well they created the team coming together in 1997.

Loved the casual references to Megan Donner (Kim Delaney) from season and of course Tim Speedle (Rory Cochrane)

I was surprised how young Caruso looked in the 1997 flashbacks. Obviously growing his hair out in the summer and some computer work did the trick.

I loved Buddy Garrity as H's partner.

I also liked the innocent Calleigh Ducquesne just starting out in the lab.

Looking forward to seeing how they integrate Jessie Cardoza into the team.

Also, apologies for the error about Rodriguez. I read the cast list for episode 2 and he wasn't listed, but I assumed he would be in more episodes the way this episode ended.

Impressive continuity.

H was wearing a Panerai watch, which he was wearing when the show started.
He moved on from there to more expensive watches.

We just watched this. So far, have been impressed with many of the season openers of our favorite shows.

Spoiler:
That's a shame, why would he leave? It's not like this is the final season for the show. I'd rather they gave us some new lady eye candyl, hopefully the new M.E. is cute. I wonder if CSI is going to become the next Law & Order/ER type show where they slowly replace the entire cast and give it a 15-20 year run.

I am getting tired of them almost killing Delko, though.

Eddie Cibrian was essentially casted as his replacement. Don't know the status of a new ME yet. I guess Rodriguez is just tired of doing the show for 8 years and wants to do other things.
