Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

And "CSI" is back down to levels it's been getting before. It would seem the bump last week was due to the Dr. Jekyll storyline (as DJariva pointed out). 13 million is not too good given the competition (and another re-run with "Grey's Anatomy"). The only way the show is going to get back to where they were (16-18m per week) is to get William Petersen back...

New Doctor brought a new record for BBC America:

Doctor Who Premiere - BBC America's highest rated telecast ever
April 19, 2010, New York, NY

Doctor Who, in a new era for the iconic series, broke BBC AMERICA ratings records with its season premiere this past Saturday, April 17, delivering 1.2 million viewers in Live + Same Day - BBC AMERICA’s highest rated telecast ever. Additionally, it was the best Live + Same Day A25-54 delivery ever and ranked BBC AMERICA #2 among all ad supported cable nets in its time period (9-10:10PM) among coverage rating. Doctor Who is also currently the #1 TV series in the iTunes store. This outstanding achievement follows a slew of critical acclaim leading up to the premiere and a launch week that saw new showrunner, Steven Moffat, new Doctor, Matt Smith, and his trusty companion, Karen Gillan, greeting thousands of fans over a series of events and screenings in New York and Los Angeles.

The reboot of this BAFTA-winning series, whose predecessor delivered record ratings for BBC AMERICA earlier this year, takes viewers on a stunning journey through time and space. The Doctor (Matt Smith) and his new travelling companion, the enigmatic Amy Pond (Karen Gillan), together explore sixteenth century Venice, France during the 1890s and the United Kingdom in the far future, now an entire nation floating in space. But, the Doctor’s enemies are never far behind him including old nemeses the Daleks and Weeping Angels, plus new foes such as alien vampires, humanoid reptiles and a silent menace that follows the Doctor and Amy wherever they go. Doctor Who airs every Saturday, 9:00p.m. ET/PT.

The Doctor Who premiere on Saturday, April 17 was BBC AMERICA’s best Live + Same Day P2+ rating (.68) and delivery ever (1,196,000).

"Dancing With the Stars" continues to help ABC dominate Monday night. In fact, ABC's ratings gold dancing show drew nearly double the numbers of "House" and "Two and a Half Men" -- the second-place shows during "Dancing's" 8 - 9:30 p.m. time slot. Despite ABC's wide margin, overall the Alphabet network still lost around two million viewers from last week (although "Dancing" was a half hour shorter, with ABC's new comedy "Romantically Challenged" premiering at 9:30 p.m.).

ABC scored 15.8 million viewers and a 10.1 rating/16 share in households. CBS (10.2 million, 6.4/10) finished second, and FOX came in a close third with 9.7 million viewers and a 5.8/9. NBC lagged a distant fourth with 3.9 million viewers and a 2.7/4, followed by The CW (960,000, 0.7/1).

In the adults 18-49 demographic, ABC's 3.8 rating beat out CBS and FOX, which tied for second place at 3.4. NBC came in fourth with a 1.1, followed by The CW's 0.4.

Monday hour by hour:

8 p.m.

ABC: "Dancing with the Stars" (20.0 million viewers, 12.8/20 households)
FOX: "House" (10.6 million, 6.3/10)
CBS: "How I Met Your Mother" (7.7 million, 4.8/8)/"Rules of Engagement" (7.4 million, 4.6/7)
NBC: "Chuck" rerun (2.9 million, 2.0/3)
The CW: "One Tree Hill" rerun (1.2 million, 0.8/1)

18-49 leader: "Dancing with the Stars" (4.1)

9 p.m.

ABC: "Dancing with the Stars" (22.4 million, 14.1/22)/"Romantically Challenged" premiere (11.6 million, 7.5/12)
CBS: "Two and a Half Men" rerun (11.4 million, 7.1/11)/"The Big Bang Theory" rerun (11.7 million, 7.2/11)
FOX: "24" (8.9 million, 5.4/8)
NBC: "Trauma" (4.6 million, 3.0/5)
The CW: "Gossip Girl" rerun (825,000, 0.6/1)

18-49 leader: "Dancing with the Stars" (5.3)

10 p.m.

CBS: "CSI: Miami" (11.7 million, 7.3/12)
ABC: "Castle" (10.5 million, 6.8/11)
NBC: "Law & Order" rerun (4.3 million, 3.0/5)

18-49 leader: "CSI: Miami" (3.3)
I had hoped Castle beating CSI would be the new norm, but no such luck.

"American Idol" slipped below 20 million viewers for the first time in a long time Tuesday, marking its fifth straight week of falling ratings. FOX did, however, get another strong performance from "Glee" en route to winning the night.

CBS (9.2 million, 6.1/10) came in third with a night of repeats. NBC (8 million, 5.0/8) was up a bit from recent weeks, while a slate of reruns on The CW failed to break the million-viewer mark, coming in at 914,000 viewers and a 0.7/1.

FOX also dominated the adults 18-49 demographic with a 6.0 rating. NBC took second in the demo at 3.2, beating out ABC's 2.8. CBS, 1.7, came in fourth, while The CW trailed with a 0.4.

Tuesday hour by hour:

FOX: "Glee" (13.5 million, 7.9/12)
CBS: "NCIS: Los Angeles" rerun (10.2 million, 6.6/10)
NBC: "The Biggest Loser" (9.6 million, 5.8/9)
ABC: "Lost" (9.35 million, 5.8/9)

CBS: "The Good Wife" rerun (7.7 million, 5.2/9)
NBC: "Parenthood" (7.2 million, 4.7/8)
ABC: "V" (6 million, 3.9/7)

18-49 leader: "Parenthood" (2.9)

I had thought mrpayroll was on an extended vacation and not able to post daily rating results like he had been doing for so long. Now I see he's listed as a "guest".

Reruns on ABC and CBS meant FOX and "American Idol" had little competition in Wednesday's ratings, clearing the "Idol Gives Back" special to dominate the ratings.

FOX averaged 18.4 million viewers and a 10.4 rating/17 share in households in primetime, leaving everyone else in the dust. CBS was the best of the rest with 6.8 million viewers and a 4.4/7. NBC (6.3 million, 4.3/7) came in third, followed by ABC (4.3 million, 2.8/5). The CW trailed with 1.9 million viewers and a 1.3/2.

In the adults 18-49 demographic, FOX's 5.8 rating nearly beat the combined total of the other four networks. NBC took second in the demo, albeit with only a 1.8, while ABC and CBS tied for third at 1.6. The CW drew a 0.9.

The CW: "America's Next Top Model" (3 million, 2.1/3)

18-49 leader: "Idol Gives Back" (5.4)

NBC: "Law & Order: SVU" rerun (5.3 million, 3.6/6)

Survivor" and crime dramas coasted to a ratings win Thursday night, and ABC's "FlashForward" improved slightly on last week's soft numbers. NBC's comedies, however, drew some of their smallest audiences of the season.

CBS easily won the night with 13.3 million viewers and an 8.1 rating/14 share in households. FOX (7.4 million, 4.6/8) came in second, ahead of ABC (5.8 million, 4.0/7). NBC mustered only 4.7 million viewers and a 3.1/5, while The CW scored just under 3 million people and a 1.8/3.

The Eye also led among adults 18-49 with a 3.1 rating. FOX took second in the demographic with a 2.3, edging NBC's 2.2. ABC averaged 1.7 and The CW 1.4.

Thursday's hourly numbers:

8 p.m.

CBS: "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" (11.8 million viewers, 7.0/12 households)
FOX: "Bones" (8.8 million, 5.6/9)
ABC: "FlashForward" (5.6 million, 3.7/6)
NBC: "Community" (3.9 million, 2.6/4)/"30 Rock" (4.2 million, 2.8/5)
The CW: "The Vampire Diaries" (3.3 million, 2.0/3)

18-49 leader: "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" (3.6)

9 p.m.

CBS: "CSI" (13.3 million, 8.2/13)
ABC: "Private Practice" (7.4 million, 5.1/8)
FOX: "Fringe" (5.9 million, 3.6/6)
NBC: "The Office" (6.4 million, 4.0/6)/"30 Rock" (5.2 million, 3.2/5)
The CW: "Supernatural" (2.7 million, 1.6/3)

18-49 leader: "The Office" (3.3)

10 p.m.

CBS: "The Mentalist" (14.8 million, 9.3/16)
ABC: "Grey's Anatomy" rerun (4.4 million, 3.1/5)
NBC: "The Marriage Ref" (4.3 million, 2.9/5)

18-49 leader: "The Mentalist" (3.0)
Wonder if local NBC affiliates are complaining about Marriage Ref? It's getting lower ratings than 10:00 Leno averaged.

I dunno but those numbers for Fringe are disheartening, even if it has been renewed for a 3rd season. Actually, everything looks a little down yesterday, what'd I miss?

Edit: Ohhh yeah, the NFL draft was on last night now it all makes sense

Whoah!! Everything was down alot last night. That has to be a season worst for Community, especially for a new episode. Fringe has been hovering around the high 5's and 6.5M viewers and getting in the 2's in the 18-49 demo, nothing has really changed about it.

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethe...onday-win.html

The absence of Kate Gosselin didn't hurt "Dancing With the Stars" much Monday as the show cruised to another overall ratings win. "House," however, scored well enough among adults 18-49 to lead FOX to a demographic victory.

In the overall numbers, ABC (14.5 million viewers, 9.5 rating/15 share in households) led by a wide margin over FOX (9.9 million, 6.1/9). A night of (mostly) repeats on CBS took third with 7.9 million viewers and a 5.1/8. NBC (5.35 million, 3.4/5) came in fourth, followed by The CW (2.05 million, 1.3/2), which saw "Gossip Girl" improve a bit on its recent numbers.

Among adults 18-49, FOX's 3.5 rating beat out ABC's 3.3 for the lead. CBS came in third with a 2.7. NBC's 1.7 was good enough to top The CW's 1.1 for fourth.

Monday hour by hour:

8 p.m.

ABC: "Dancing With the Stars" (19.3 million viewers, 12.5/20 households)
FOX: "House" (10.6 million, 6.6/10)
NBC: "Chuck" (6 million, 3.7/6)
CBS: "How I Met Your Mother" rerun (4.8 million, 3.2/5)/"Rules of Engagement" (6.7 million, 4.2/7)
The CW: "One Tree Hill" (2.1 million, 1.3/2)

18-49 leader: "House" (4.1)

9 p.m.

ABC: "Dancing With the Stars" (21.9 million, 14.2/22)/"Romantically Challenged" (10 million, 6.7/10)
CBS: "Two and a Half Men" rerun (9.7 million, 6.2/9)/"The Big Bang Theory" rerun (10.6 million, 6.7/10)
FOX: "24" (9.2 million, 5.5/8)
NBC: "Trauma" season finale (5.3 million, 3.3/5)
The CW: "Gossip Girl" (2 million, 1.3/2)

18-49 leader: "Dancing with the Stars" (5.0)

10 p.m.

ABC: "Castle" rerun (8.1 million, 5.6/10)
CBS: "CSI: Miami" rerun (7.9 million, 5.3/9)
NBC: "Law & Order" rerun (4.8 million, 3.3/6)

18-49 leader: "Castle" and "CSI: Miami" tied at 2.0

Looks like Chuck gained 200k viewers over last new episode. I hope we see a steady climb over the next 4 weeks back to the 6.5M range.

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

From zap2it
American Idol" dipped a little more in the ratings Tuesday, but it and 'Glee' were still big enough to carry FOX to a win against original competition from CBS.

In total viewers, though, the contest was closer than it's been for some time. FOX led with 15.7 million viewers and a 9.1 rating/14 share in households, but CBS (14.5 million, 9.2/15) was not far behind. ABC (7.6 million, 5.0/8) came in third, followed by NBC (6.9 million, 4.3/7). The CW was well back with 1.3 million viewers and a 0.9/1.

FOX scored a much bigger victory in the 18-49 demographic -- its 5.9 rating more than doubled CBS' 2.9. NBC finished third at 2.7. ABC averaged 2.0 and The CW a modest 0.6.

Tuesday's hourly numbers:

8 p.m.

FOX: "American Idol" (18.8 million viewers, 10.7/17 households)
CBS: "NCIS" (15.9 million, 9.9/16)

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

Although it looks like glee lost some from last week, at least its still doing well above its numbers prior to the winter break

5.3 in the 18-49 demos is the most important thing for Glee. Yes, it's doing great.

Looks like the new episode of The Good Wife took away some of Parenthood's viewers.

Did anyone else know Lost was going to be a rerun last night? I don't know a single person who knew until the show started. That completely ruined my night.

I knew it was a repeat when I didn't see it scheduled to record in my TiVo To Do list.

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethe...-premiere.html

"American Idol's" results show carried FOX to another ratings win Wednesday night. ABC's comedies also had decent nights, but the network's new mystery "Happy Town" won't be making many people happy with its premiere ratings.

FOX easily won the night with 12.3 million viewers and a 7.3 rating/12 share in households. CBS (7.45 million, 5.1/9) came in second overall despite airing repeats all night. ABC (6.53 million, 4.2/7) beat NBC (6.52 million, 4.2/7) by the narrowest of margins for third place. The CW drew 2.1 million viewers and a 1.5/2.

In the adults 18-49 demographic, FOX's 4.1 rating was well ahead of second-place ABC's 2.4. No one else managed to break the 2.0 mark: NBC finished third at 1.9, followed by CBS, 1.8, and The CW, 0.9.

Wednesday hour by hour:

8 p.m.

ABC: "The Middle" rerun (5.3 million, 3.6/6)/"The Middle" new episode (7.1 million, 4.4/8)
CBS: "Old Christine" rerun (5.3 million, 3.6/7)/"Two and a Half Men" rerun (6.3 million, 4.3/7)
FOX: "Lie to Me" rerun (5.3 million, 3.4/6)
NBC: "Minute to Win It" rerun (5.2 million, 3.2/6)
The CW: "America's Next Top Model" (3.3 million, 2.3/4)

18-49 leader: "The Middle" new episode (2.4)

9 p.m.

FOX: "American Idol" results (19.4 million, 11.2/18)
CBS: "Criminal Minds" rerun (8.8 million, 5.9/9)
ABC: "Modern Family" (9.8 million, 5.9/9)/"Cougar Town" (6.45 million, 4.2/7)
NBC: "Mercy" (5 million, 3.3/5)
The CW: "Fly Girls" (1 million, 0.8/1)/"High Society" season finale (909,000, 0.6/1)

18-49 leader: "American Idol" (6.5)

10 p.m.

NBC: "Law & Order: SVU" (9.4 million, 6.2/11)
CBS: "CSI: NY" rerun (7.7 million, 5.3/9)
ABC: "Happy Town" premiere (5.2 million, 3.5/6)

18-49 leader: "Law & Order: SVU" (2.9)
Modern Family continues to grow

On the flip side, NBC is pretty happy with the increase for Law & Order: SVU from Mercy... If my math is right, that's 88% more viewers. And yeah, given the amount of advertising they've done (and I saw it on various number of stations), not good for Happy Town.
