The Survivor Game for Survivor Enthusiasts brings us to Samoa

The jist of the game: Everyone chooses one Survivor to latch on to before the start of the season. That is your guy. You root for that Survivor. If that Survivor ends up going all the way, then YOU will win a $30 Amazon.com gift certificate.

I want to run things a little more smoothly than last time so here is how I plan on doing things:

First. If you're interested please post in this thread. The first 20 will be considered.

Before you post, remember than the game will cost $2 to play so if you're not prepared to pay that small entrance fee, please don't post.

I will send PMs with my paypal info as the posts start flowing in. Some may remember it from last season, if so, feel free to just send the $2 as soon as you post. After I send you a PM, I'll give you 2 days to either send me cash via Paypal or to PM me with a good excuse as to why I should wait longer for your dues. I'm leinent, so as long as you have a good reason I will gladly accomodate you. However, if you leave me hanging, you will be banned. I had a few non-payers last season that never bothered to message me about it and ignored my messages. I don't want to deal with that again.

I will bump this thread and send out a PM to the contestants with a date and time of a "draft", at which point all contestants will be allowed to post their Survivor pick. First come, first serve after that date and time. Last season we had an issue with some players getting shafted because they didn't see this thread right away. I want to get away from that so I figure having a date and time to give me your pick will give everyone fair notice.

One more change I'd like to implement is the Merge Draft. Let's face it, there isn't much to this game. You pick someone and you ride them out all season. I'd like to make it more interactive. My plan is this: At the merge, everyone loses their initial pick and it all gets put back in the pool. The remaining 10 players (assuming the merge is at 10) will then pick a NEW player, one by one and they will be able to ride that player out until the end. The order in which the player picks is based on how their Survivor performs at Tribal Council. The less votes your Survivor had cast against him/her, the higher up your Merge Draft position is. This puts an extra layer and throws some skill in the game.

EDIT: As JuryDuty has brought up, what we'll do is at the merge, you can keep your pick if you want to OR you can lose your pick and enter the draft.


I'm not married to the idea of a draft. So in Survivor fashion, let's vote on it. In your initial post, let me know if you want to add the Merge Draft to the game. Majority rules, Obama Style!

I don't mind the Merge Draft idea, but I think anyone who wants to hold onto their Survivor shouldn't have to put them up for draft and risk losing them, because you can easily get attached to your pick. I found myself rooting for my pick every episode last season and I'd hate to have to have switched. I say just let those who want to change their pick switch.

Right on top of things JD! I got it. You're in.

I do like your idea of not giving up your pick if you don't want to. I think we should roll with that. If you want to give up your pick and enter the draft you can. If you'd rather stick with your pick till the end, you can do that as well.

As soon as we get 4 more I'll let everyone know. I'm shooting for September 10 around 2pm. It's a week before the season starts and I think enough people DVDtalk from work to make that a good time to do things. But don't quote me on that date.

With the exception of 4 people that I just sent PM's to, everyone had paid up or has let me know that they will pay soon. Excellent :up:
