Re: Man V. Food: 2nd Season
Had a buddy from Philly and he made me a cheesesteak (he use to work at one of the places) and I said it looked ugly with the wiz and got pissed at me. Than he served me one of the best damn cheese steaks I have ever had.

Re: Man V. Food: 2nd Season
that whole final segment in philly bothered me. i hope adam and the cheesesteak guy were old friends or something, cause that guy seemed way too happy - like all he wanted was his 15 minutes of fame or something. usually it's adam who is super happy to be eating at a legendary restaurant or whatever, and the owners just go about their business, but it was quite clear that this guy was more psyched to be on Man V. Food. i didn't appreciate his attention-whoring and doing the whole challenge and interview at the end side by side with adam. that guy sucked.

Tony Luke also has a movie connection.
He's in them and produces them.
In Philly his steak shop is just as famous as the "big two" Geno's and Pat's.
And that cheesesteak challenge was completely made up for the show.
It isn't even listed on their website as a item and it never existed before that show.
But from what I could tell and they said it was equal to 6 steaks, It looked more like the same as ordering 3 steaks with extra meat.
Also I guess I'm calling out Adam on this one and even more Tony Luke.
there was no way that challenge was a tough one.
Adam almost finished in half the time and Tony Luke should have finished.
I think they were making it look harder then it was so it didn;'t look to be a lame challenge.
Also wiz is the cheese of choice but provo or american is also acceptable and preffered by many.

I've eaten at Tony Luke's before, but only their Roast Pork sandwich.. How do their cheesesteaks stack up against Pats and Genos?

Out of those three I would eat at Pat's then Geno's.
When we were younger we would go to Pat's then genos and eat at least one steak from both places, usually after a game.
not a fan of Luke's.
the role is a little crispier but falls apart quickly.
I'm tempted to do the challenge though, I wonder what he charges for it.
Luke's does have a huge following and i know poeple who prefer it over both the other two.

I've only had Pat's before, but I would like to try the cheesesteak that Tony made in the Bobby Flay Throwdown episode. I think he called it an Italian Cheesesteak - it had broccoli rabe and provolone.

that chili one didn't look too bad. i mean, he's getting pretty good at spicy challenges. either that or everyone else who does those challenges are a bunch of pussies.

I don't know if it's him, or the editing, but they are getting better at making it look like he's going to fail when he ends up winning, and vice versa.
He was really milking the difficulty of the chili challenge at first, then he just tore through 4 more bowls.

Desmond, are you here in Central IL too?
I don't know about the chilli challenge, since we've never been to Joe Rogers before ... we have been to Cozy Dog (although I missed that part of the episode) and D'Arcy's Pint though.
I wondered the same thing about the chilli challenge -- if he was milking it or not -- the bowls didn't look very full or very big, so I don't think the quantity got him like he said. I would guess, based on the numbers before him, that it must be pretty hot (though that doesn't seem to come from fresh ingredients like most of the challenges). It looked awful greasy to me ...

Impressive that Adam put away that 6 lbs of food/shake in 30 minutes in Boise.
That being said, I didn't find any of the featured dishes in the Boise episode particularly appetizing.
DC should be interesting next episode. I have no idea what food challenges are around here. I figure he'll go to Ben's Chili Bowl for one segment.

Re: Man V. Food: 2nd Season
I saw Adam today in Hartford, CT, he was doing a challenge at Woody's hotdogs. I was going to eat there but the place was packed in anticipation of Adam. He's much thinner in person than he looks on TV, they were setting up a shot outside when I left and I glanced over and gave him a quick nod. So it sounds like this is on stop he'll do next season.
I have no idea how he can do these challenges but damn is it entertaining.

Yeah after he went to Woody's he went to Doogies in Newington. I guess there was an article in the Courant about it afterwards and they basically said Adam was kind of a dick to them. Who knows though maybe the reporter was being a douche.

Never heard of the other 2 places, although Annapolis isn't exactly DC. Fish place didn't look good to me but fried fish isn't exactly my favorite. Impressive effort again on the challenge. He's been able to knock down 2 milkshake challenges now. He couldn't do that the first time he faced one of those.
I'll be really interested in the Baltimore episode next week.
