16 and Pregnant

Has anyone been watching this show? The season finale is next week.

I've caught a few episodes, surprised MTV has done something so good even the tv critics are raving about it. My favorite was the cheerleader from Iowa with the overbearing mom, but alot of these stories are similar. Girl gets knocked up, while babby daddy runs away scared to be a dad so young. You have to wonder if this show will make it to dvd, and be viewed in sex ed in schools.

I've caught a few episodes and it's not bad. They showed a clip of the guy buying the $21 engagement ring on The Soup. They really need to do follow-up episodes so we can see how things turn out 6 months or a year later.

The show reminds me a lot of True Life. I also laughed when the engagement ring clip was on The Soup. According to the MTV site there will be a reunion show. I also hope more seasons are made. I do wonder if the couple in the next episode will go through with the adoption of their baby.

I know this is a problem with a lot of kids this age in American nowadays, but I've watched a couple of episodes and it just makes me cringe. I'm glad the parents for the most part are welcoming to this since I know if this was me and I knocked up a girl at that age, I wouldn't have been alive to witness the kids birth. My parents would've killed me.

Caught bits of a few episodes while my wife was watching. Most of the dads seemed worthless, but i was impressed by the kid in the episode where the girl and her mom were pregnant at the same time. He was totally into his kid and was extremely helpful.

I've only seen clips about it on The Soup, including the one where the girl killed her dad with great sex. No idea how that happened, but that's what she said! :)

ha ha, i saw that clip on The Soup. that's a different show. "Secret life of the american teenager", i think.

Ah, you're right! I still want to know what that whole story was about.

man, just about all of the girls on the show should have given up the kid for adoption. I was glad to see the one guy step up and take care of his baby. They should really do some followup episodes.

I watched an episode in which the mother's deplorable parents were mad at the teen couple for choosing to work with an adoption agency and a childless couple. My wife was upset that, in the face of the girl's mother calling her horrible names and not wanting to sign the adoption papers, no one stood up and said the obvious, right thing to this young couple: you're clearly doing the right thing.

I agree that girl's mom made me mad. I couldn't believe she called her daughter a bitch. The boy's mullett headed dad was annoying too. I can't wait to see the reunion show and see how the other couples are doing.

I watched the "After Labor" special and honestly it was kind of boring. Dr Drew was way too soft-spoken and the teens didn't seem like they had a lot to say.

story 07-25-09 02:48 AM

Re: 16 and Pregnant

Dr. Drew clearly was just drawing a paycheck on this one. He wanted to tell them exactly what they should be doing but that's not what he was being paid to do; he was paid to "listen" to their idiocy. I liked how none of the girls let the guys talk, finishing their sentences every time, and how forced and fake the audience questions were. Nice "reality" TV.

Re: 16 and Pregnant

Yeah that was pretty noticeable too.
