Re: Quoting The Simpsons
My daughter's friend is named Maggie, and I constantly refer to her as "Magaggie" without even thinking about it.

Re: Quoting The Simpsons
Quotes from The Simpsons and Seinfeld probably make up about 80% of the things I say on a daily basis. The only frustrating thing is that very few people actually pick up on it, which takes away a lot of the fun.

I know I say Jebus daily.

Re: Quoting The Simpsons
Even though I'm a huge Simpsons fan, I'm at a loss to pull up quotes at the drop of a hat. The only one I manage to work in quite often is - "Marge, may I play Devil's Advocate for a moment?"
Seinfeld, on the other hand, I can pretty much work into any conversation. |
Re: Quoting The Simpsons
I say, "Marge, I want to be alone with the sandwich," at least 2-3 times a month.

Marge: Homer, stop picking at your head. [Homer's head is a giant donut] Homer: But I'm so tasty. |
Re: Quoting The Simpsons
Whenever someone says something I don't fully comprehend, my reaction is always:
"the bees are on the whatnow?" And that's just a tiny example - random Simpsons quotes have become such an ubiquitous part of my vocabulary for almost 20 years now that I've almost forgotten where they're from. |

"D'oh" "Why you little..!" "Excelllllllent" "Hot stuff comin' through." |
Re: Quoting The Simpsons
Sorry, I'm a Seinfeld quoter myself. "Serenity Now!"

Re: Quoting The Simpsons
I don't quote often but my cat's name is Bitey.

Re: Quoting The Simpsons
I say "You're crazy Marge. Get off the road!" just about every other day to my wife. :)
My siblings and my Dad and I quote movies and the Simpsons all the time. We can have whole family dinners spoken in nothing but quotes (almost). The only person who doesn't really get involved is my Mom. And she hates the Simpsons. So one time I'm leaving the house, go to open the screen door and it sticks and I run into it. "Stupid door!" I mutter. From behind me I hear my Mom say "Stupid Flanders!". I about fell off the porch I was laughing so hard. Favorite Simpsons quote moment ever. |

Re: Quoting The Simpsons
I have mentioned "the dreaded Rear Admiral" at least five times in the last two weeks.

Seinfeld, on the other hand, I can pretty much work into any conversation. I do love to say "Super Nintendo Chalmers all the time. It was awesome when Mario Chalmers was playing for Kansas. I also like the "Ketchup, Catsup" bit when I'm in the supermarket. |
Re: Quoting The Simpsons
At my engagement dinner the other night, the server was showing us the menu options by holding up raw cuts of meat and at one point a live lobster. I named it Pinchy. She didn't get it.

Re: Quoting The Simpsons
My roommate and I have been doing the "Dr. Zaius" medley nonstop for the past couple days. (Can I play the piano anymore?) And the "steamed hams" run is one of the very best of the show.
I think it's funny that other people here have mentioned that the more "offbeat" lines often get them funny looks because I tend to have that happen to me too. In fact, I referred to someone as "Joey Joe Joe Junior Shabadoo" the other day and was met with blank stares. It's amazing now that I think about it, how much I do quote the show without even knowing it. Has no one yet mentioned "My eyes! The goggles do nothing!" or "Hey Ma! Get off the dang roof!" I've always loved "Everything's coming up Milhouse" when I have good luck. There are seriously too many my head hurts. "Mono- D'oh!" |
Re: Quoting The Simpsons
"The impound yard, the impenetrable fortress of suburbia", used that one when I had to go get a part for the car
"I bent my Wookie" - used that one last night after I dropped a beer can that exploded all over the place "Stupid TV! Be more funny!" - Said that in the break room at work when news of Manny Ramirez was on for the 1,00th time that hour |

Re: Quoting The Simpsons
I've never cared for The Simpsons, but friends of mine worship the series and regularly quote it. In fact, they'll go so far as to have entire conversations not just about the show, but actually consist exclusively of them trading dialogue. It, frankly, drives me nuts and bores me to tears. I would like to thank those of you who have cited favorite quotes of yours for at least just presenting the lines themselves, without the three paragraphs-long contextual preface that seems to actually accompany these moments in a conversation.
