Comedy Central orders 13 episodes of Futurama

http://www.collider.com/2009/06/07/e...-the-futurama/

Good news everybody! An inside source has revealed exclusively to Collider that “Futurama” has been given a 13 episode order by Comedy Central. Though still technically a rumor at this point, word is that “Futurama” production offices have already opened and that casting is about to move forward.

This should be a welcome surprise to fans of the show who have already gone through the series’ cancellation and resurrection as direct-to-DVD movies.

Look for official word in the very near future. Though animation has a big lead time, I would guess on some kind of “Futurama” presence at Comic Con next month.

Hypno-Toad approves.

FOX is officially the stupidest network ever.

Man, I hope that's true. One to get more Futurama, and two to get back to episodic format. The movies didn't work that well.

I'm wary about this. For the most part, the movies sucked. Hard.

No they didn't. Why you gotta whip out the hyperbole?

The only bummer is that it'll be almost 2 years until they'd start to air.

No, they just tried too hard. Hopefully the new episodes (if they are indeed coming) will be more in line with the first four seasons.

Well, I did find that last movie sucked. Hard. The other ones were fine for the most part, but BG was a total mess.

i think the movies were good, but not great. too long. this show is infinitely better within the time constraints of 30 minutes. with that said, i'd welcome this back with open arms. i loved the show when it was on. as long as everyone comes back (can't see why they wouldn't) then this would be a great addition to comedy central.

Awesome. Hopefully all the original voice actors return.
I haven't seen any of the movies, did they get the original voice actors back for those?

I'll be all on this like a fly on a very seductive pile of manure.

Assuming I can watch the show online.

Great News! While I really enjoyed two of the three films I saw (and still mostly liked Bender’s Game), I think Futurama works best in a half-hour format. Here’s hoping the rumor is true!

The series was great, the movies were terrible. I somewhat doubt they can get back the magic on such a short run.
