The Simpsons *Season Finale* -- "Coming To Homerica" -- 05/17/09

"Coming to Homerica"
Spoiler:
When nearby Ogdenville's economy crumbles due to tainted barley discovered in Krusty's veggie burgers, the unemployed workers of Ogdenville flock to Springfield. After Mayor Quimby closes Springfield's borders and enlists private citizens to help patrol them, Homer organizes a border patrol group.

Fantastic Couch Gag. Nice seeing Sideshow Bob (Kelsey Grammar) in the Cheers-segment of the gag. Got a good laugh out of that.

Cletus suggesting the Klan as the name of their version of the Minutemen got a laugh:lol:

Good season finale. Seeing the house with the balloons from the movie "Up" in the background when Lenny and Carl was up in the air was a nice touch.

Agreed. I enjoyed the couch gag.

Disappointing season finale.

It wasn't terribly subtle on its stance on the US/Mexico border, no sir-ee.

I think this is about the 53rd time they've built a wall in Springfield.

I would have loved this episode more if my DirecTV HD feed was not plagued by dropouts. I missed some good stuff due to "blank" screen. Oh well, off to Hulu tomorrow.

They've used this couch gag before (although, not in HD).

I was just going to say that.

And this whole episode I just kept thinking, "They took our jobs!"

Instead of a wall, they should've just built a huge dome around the city.

Definitely another sledgehammer moral, and the ending sort of petered out. Plus, was I missing something, or was there no sub/second plot to speak of?
There were some good gags in the beginning, but this one's not standing out in my mind.

I agree. I was like "that's it?!"

Nope. The only genuine laugh I got was when the tumble weeds rolled by and Ralph Wiggum blew past as well.

This may seem like a thread crap but in truth it is a lament...

It's indicative of how far this show has fallen that less than 20 posts are currently on the final episode thread.

In its heyday The Simpsons was my favorite program and absolute "can't miss tv". I sadly haven't watched a new episode in years.

I miss those halcyon days of Simpsons genius that was such an integral part of my childhood.

"Alas, be it ever thus..."

Well, of course these new episodes do not draw the audience they once used to, these episodes are nevertheless syndication fodder where they will indeed find their audience. Even if no one watched these new episodes on Sunday night, Fox would still have an incentive to air the show.

Back to the point, I found the episode to be rather hilarious. A couple of gags here and there had me laughing out loud. So thumbs up!

Whatever, dude.

The first segment of this episode made me laugh as much as any episode from it's "halcyon days", whatever those were.

One of the best episodes ever, in my opinion. And Maggie spoke her first words (again).

"I'm not trying to sound xylophobic."
"Dad, that means afraid of xylophones!"
"But I am afraid of xylophones! They make the sounds that skeletons make when they dance.."

That hit me as pretty funny.
