I say let him end it as he sees fit and, if he's up for it, revisit the series with a oneshot theatrical movie.

That'd be up to the WB actually. I think Kripke will be up for it if the door to that was even remotely open. I mean it'll be his theatrical debut, who wouldn't be?

I know it's up to WB. I'm just saying that in an ideal scenario WB should let Kripke end the series when and how he wants to end it without extending it needlessly. Also, should they ever wish to revisit the Supernatural universe once the show is over, if Kripke (and of course the cast regulars) would be up for it, make a movie but only a oneshot. It'd be a gift to the fans and some extra reveniew for Warner Bros. if done right. Basically a win-win for everyone.

I am the opposite, I actually liked Genevieve Cortese better as Ruby. She seemed more convincing as a demon having dark hair, unlike blonde Katie Cassidy.

I didn't realize there was a hair color requirment for demons.

Guest star on Supernatural or play one of the "leads" on the unknown Harper's Island. Guess she took a shot and HI being big.
I am guessing the reason that the angels were going to allow the seal to be broken is due to a crisis of faith. It was earlier mentioned that only 4 angels had even seen God. The guy with Dean last night mentioned that God has left the building so to speak so maybe they were hoping to get His attention. Maybe this would be a crime He would punish Himself which would finally let them see Him as well as "wake" Him up.

That would certainly explain Dean's invovlement and why the angels would allow Sam to become corrupted given their roles as hunters. That said, I still don't get why the demons didn't solve the issue themselves unless it will be explained that the angels fooled them into thinking the corrupting of a force for good like Sam Winchester was necessary.

In last weeks episode they mentioned something to the effect that for the last seal to be broken, a normal person had to be corrupted and turned into a demon. So Lilith couldn't simply kill herself.
Also, I did just realize that the breaking of the seals began with Dean and ended with Sam.

Katie was billed as a recurring? regular? actor (or whatever the correct lingo is ) so yeah she was paid more. Cortese being only guest actor is cheaper.

A good finale, although the way it developed, it became clear that it was going to be a cliffhanger fairly early on.
One thing that did bother me, although it applies to this whole season as well, was the overdone snarky dialogue. I'm a big fan of the show, but the constant snarkiness in the dialogue was getting on my nerves a lot in this episode.

Good finale to a great series
I haven't really liked the development of the Angels. Could have been a bit tighter

They hinted that it "always had to be Sam" so I think that's going to be one of the mysteries of Season 5, as to why it had to be him.

^I thought that was just because Yellow Eyed Demon had got to him early, feeding him the blood as a baby...the other specials like him are gone and Sam was left standing, so it had to be him.

I loved the season finale, well done! Here is what I think... I think they may use Dean or Sam as a vessel for Lucifer. He has to take some form and they are the only people in the area. September 9th is rather long to wait for Season 5 so we will all have to wait!

Welcome to the Forum.
After watching the Finale about 4-5 times, it's starting to grow on me.
Now what to do between now and Sept 9th?

One of Dean's lines had me dying in this episode:
"Oh look its The Suite Life of Zacharia and...uh nevermind."
Dean stops his pop culture reference mid-sentence when he realizes he is referencing a Disney Channel show, lol.

My guess would be Sam for the vessel as well.
I rewatched the season opener and that would make sense. Probably the Angels mean to pit Dean against a possed Sam, knowing that Dean wouldn't bring himself to kill his Devil-possesed brother. This would fit with Axeramm's theory since the Angels would probably figure God would have to step out of hiding, as it were, and accomplish the task Dean would undoubtedly refuse.
