Well, history's on our side in that if Smallville is good at something, it's finale's and premieres. It's the stuff in between that's always crap so at least we have that going for us. I think it'd be great if they end this season like the comics with Clark and Doomsday both dead. That'd be an awesome cliffhanger.

Horrible.
HORRIBLE!
The only thing I semi-liked was Jimmy being retconned to his real age, but it's so Lois/Chloe theory that's been running rampant since the beginning of Smallville.

Re: Smallville -- Season Finale -- "Doomsday" -- 5/14/09
It was certainly one of the weaker (weakest?) season finales. I was expecting a much darker episode based on what was alluded to. But I figured out who the veteran character was going to be since it followed the same old formula (just about anyone that discovers Clark's secret is doomed).
I did think it was interesting Davis Bloom's character came full circle; he wasn't as tormented or conflicted with his darker half as much as we were led to believe. His Doomsday half just seemed to be inherent in his human side the whole time.

I never thought I'd ever be compelled to use this quote but, in the words of Comic Book Guy, "worst... episode... EVER!" This was more anticlimactic than an episode of Charmed and those were the queens of the anticlimax.
Sheesh! Lemme guess, Jimmy's little brother is also called Jimmy and that's why he was wearing a bowtie. And Clark not once thought to use the Legion ring? Yes, I know Lois has it but you'd assume he'd think to use it and then discover it's missing. And this whole abandoning humanity crap was done (and much better) a few seasons ago. I also love Clark's rant about putting humanity on a pedestal, all the while ignoring the simple fact that Davis (even when you removie Doomsday from him) was never human. He's a Kryptonian test tube baby.
Oh and why didn't Clark pull out the dart himself? If it wasn't enough to kill him it should not have been enough to keep him from pulling it out. And why would Doomsday NOT kill the Justice League, Davis, and Chloe but it was more than happy to kill a little girl?
How could the writers get so much wrong and not manage to make anything compelling enough to hook you into another season?

If Davis was born out of Kryptonian proto-plasm-goo, how did he have a human half? Nuture vs nature?
It was a meh episode for me. Needed more Supes vs Doomsday and less of the running in circles.

It was bad. Bad, bad, bad. And this season did start with such promise in the hopes of ENDING THE SERIES. Once it got another season, it went right down the shitter. I MAY watch next season, but I really don't care anymore.

I'm gonna rename this episode "Doomsdud" because nothing really coalesced all that well.
The "Justice League" ended up far too inconsequential in execution. Oliver over-stepped his bounds.
The fight was over far too quick. Did Clark "jump" all the way back to Luthor's geothermal facility?
As soon as Jimmy found out Clark's secret, well, the handwriting's on the wall! LOL! Glad they introduced a Jimmy Olsen that would be more age-appropriate in the overall scheme of things (plus, the kid could have actually have the first name of "James" while Jimmy had Henry as his first name, so it's still weirdly possible that the kid turns into the Jimmy Olsen that we "know" from comic lore.
Lois, come back! The 21st century needs you!

Yeah, the jump came outta nowhere. If they say that still doesn't count as flight, they gotta stop drinking Draino.
Everything Justice League related (including Oliver) was borderline retarded.
I hate the "real" Jimmy Olsen angle since the conceit of this show has always been that it exists in its own continuity. A comic lore friendly retcon of Jimmy Olsen is a very bad idea as it means they have to retcon everything in this show.
Why did Lois even put on the Legion ring? I can see her picking it up but I cannot see anyone being curious enough to put on some crappy ring they just found after they got into a huge brawl with their psychotic boss. Oh but the writers needed another reason for Durance to be missing for 60% of next season.
And given how royally they screwed up Doomsday (he's dumb and likes killing EVERYITHING! How do you fuck that up?!), I met the reveal of Zod with revulsion and dread as to how they will royally fuck him up too.
