"Miracle's Are Real" Synopsis: Spoiler:
Original Air Date: April 26, 2009 |
Re: Sit Down, Shut Up -- "Miracle's Are Real" -- 04/26/09
Last week was pretty bad, so my expectations for tonight's episode were significantly lowered. I found tonight's much more enjoyable. There was an actual plot/story and all of the characters got equal screen time. I think that is one of the reasons I didn't enjoy last week's episode...there was no story or point to the episode other than introducing the characters.
Still a rough show, but tonight showed me that it can be better than awful and was good enough for me to tune in next Sunday. |

Didn't see the first ep but I got a kick out of this.

Re: Sit Down, Shut Up -- "Miracle's Are Real" -- 04/26/09
Is that apostrophe really in the title, like to make a joke about grammar in schools or something?
|
Re: Sit Down, Shut Up -- "Miracle's Are Real" -- 04/26/09
No, there's a character named Miracle, so when the apostrophe is included the title is referring to her breasts.

Re: Sit Down, Shut Up -- "Miracle's Are Real" -- 04/26/09
There were maybe one or two funny parts, but I hardly cracked a smile during the rest.

I didn't tune in this week after watching 10 minutes last week. |
Re: Sit Down, Shut Up -- "Miracle's Are Real" -- 04/26/09
I watched 5 minutes of last week - tuned out. Didn't see that many people talking about it here.. so recorded this week.
And based on the glowing reviews - I'm going to delete it from my DVR / Season pass. |
Re: Sit Down, Shut Up -- "Miracle's Are Real" -- 04/26/09
I really like the show. The first episode was pretty rough, but it seems like Hurwitz took the failures of any pilot and ran with it. I'm thinking of the let's-introduce-the-cast-members bit, giving them all goofy catchphrases.
I think the voice acting is all pretty good to great with Bateman, Winkler, and Forte being standouts for me. I'm always surprised by people that tune out a quarter of the way through the first episode of a new series. Most pilots are rough around the edges. Oh well. |

but if you say they got rid of that whole thing... I may not be so quick to turn it off next time. |

I got about 2 minutes past that part and had to shut it off.. I was thinking to myself - how many more people are they going to introduce?, I don't want to have to remember all this information, and thinking - these catch phrases are not funny at all.
but if you say they got rid of that whole thing... I may not be so quick to turn it off next time. After this episode, looking back at the Pilot I think it was a way to just mock the introduction of characters in a television show. I don't think they had any intention of having the "catchphrases" each character said in the Pilot actually remain with the character throughout the series; instead, I think it was a joke itself (poorly executed in my opinion since it took me another entire episode to figure it out) in order to mock how a lot of the shows we watch are supposedly realistic and yet the characters all have these catchphrases that no one in their right mind would say once, let alone on a daily basis. Like I said above, the Pilot seemed more of an episode where they just said screw it, introduced all the characters for 30 minutes and figured next time they'd get into a storyline. I strongly disliked the Pilot and tuned in because I never judge a show based solely on the first episode. That being said, this one was decent enough to show some potential and if you had any interest from the start I suggest watching this one before you make a final determination. |

I forgot to record it, so I have to reserve my second opinion for next week, or watch it online.

The instant haters won:
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – After two episodes, Fox is pulling Mitch Hurwitz's animated comedy "Sit Down, Shut Up" from its post-"Simpsons" slot Sunday nights. Starting next week, "Sit Down" will air instead at 7 p.m., a low-rated hour that's considered "primetime" only on Sundays. Repeats of "American Dad" will fill the 7:30 p.m. slot. The remaining episodes of the final season of "King of the Hill" will ride to the rescue, filling the 8:30 slot. The rest of Fox's lineup remains unchanged |
Re: Sit Down, Shut Up -- "Miracle's Are Real" -- 04/26/09
The only possible positive I can see in all this is that Fox miraculously decides to renew King of Hill given how poorly received this show has been.

Yes! That will work great. Having to get KOTH at 7:30 was screwing me up. |

Re: Sit Down, Shut Up -- "Miracle's Are Real" -- 04/26/09
King Of The Hill will be back in the fall. There's going to be at least 19 episodes left over after this season is done (13 from the final order, and at least 6 from the current cycle).
With that number of shows, it'll probably be on the whole season, if not at 8:30, then somewhere. Think of it like the final season of Futurama, where they just cobbled together what episodes they had left over and aired them. |
Re: Sit Down, Shut Up -- "Miracle's Are Real" -- 04/26/09
The main difference there, Futurama had an episode or two in season 4 that could have worked as a series finale (Fry vs the Brains).

They still have The Cleveland Show which I think will assume the 8:30 timeslot once Sit Down, Shut Up gets the boot.

Luckily I randomly turned on the TV and caught new episodes. In any event, it'll be nice to have King of the Hill back on at its old time and perhaps it will stay there for a little while longer.
I thought this show was pretty damn funny, but I guess I'm in the minority. Did people actually watch The Simpsons, tune out for 30 minutes then turn back on for Family Guy based on the ratings? |

Speaking of, I laughed when they showed the "Teacher's' Lounge" on the door with the sign "NO STUDENTS" taped below. LOL!

King of the Hill is a great show, but I had no problem with it on earlier. At least FOX is airing the remaining episodes.

As for Sit-Down, I DVR the whole Sunday line-up, and this was the only show I have "watched" where I am waiting for it to be over just so I could watch a Golden Girls re-run. |
