Chuck -- "Chuck Versus the First Kill" -- 04/13/09

Chuck Cast

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

When Chuck's father (Scott Bakula) is abducted by Fulcrum forces, Chuck attempts to rescue him by putting his faith in a most unlikely person---his double-crossing ex-girlfriend, Jill (Jordana Brewster). Meanwhile, at Buy More, the nerd herd tries to derail a corporate evaluation supervised by Emmett (Tony Hale).

It's good to see Bakula back for another episode. I'm also looking forward to Jordana Brewster's return.

This has become my second most anticipated show after Lost. I really hope this gets a season 3.

Looking forward to it, but I am not a big fan of the returning character.

Kind of surprised this show is on the chopping block. It's campy and usually predictable; but well written and fun to watch. I can't believe it has that big of a budget either.

Re: Chuck -- "Chuck Versus the First Kill" -- 04/13/09

After a decent but far from great first season I've been pleasantly surprised to see the show become one of the best on TV. I care about all the characters, even Awesome who has become quite sympathetic of late, and all the actors seem to inhabit their characters. I believe everyone and everything inside Chuck's unbelievable world.

^ Yeah. A lot of "good ideas" have gotten very quick resolution. Which, on occasion, is a good idea to shock people. But not with EVERY idea.

That said, STILL love the show and look forward to it more than just about any other show, particularly on a consistent basis.

Great movie references tonight, including Weekend at Bernie's - with a Bernie, no less! - and Godfather II - with a Michael, no less! LOL

As usual, loved every minute of it.

"the Morgan"

There was another great reference you guys are missing, unfortunately I'm drawing a blank myself.

One that I caught at the very beginning was Goodfellas when Chuck was asking Jill if the sauces were being made extra special.

Jeff saying "I'm an institutionalized man now." made me think of Red in The Shawshank Redemption.

Casey and Chuck watching the video made me think of Parallax View.

Chuck preventing Casey from cheating on the test reminded me of Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

I'm glad they redeemed Jill. I didn't really care for what they did with her character the first time around. Hopefully this means she can continue to reoccur. Of course I imagine that depends on whether NBC renews the show.

Maybe Big Mike should get his cousin Al and Al's friend John to teach Emmett that he shouldn't be such an asshole.

Fucking Morgan

I actually felt sorry for Big Mike. Emmett sucks.

Overall, very entertaining episode. Isn't it about time that Chuck comes up with a new alias instead of "Charles Carmichael?"

I am glad that Jill redeemed herself in this episode.

I always chuckle every time I see someone cast Borat's producer.

I'm happy to see Sarah finally break the rules for a change and help out Chuck.

I'm fairly certain that if I was in Chuck's position at the end in the car, I'd be requesting to pull over for a quickie.. I mean at that point, I don't think it would be out of line!

I was thinking the same thing last night. Fulcrum knows his 'handle' so well that it might as well be his real name at this point. I think with him and Sarah on the run, hopefully they change it up.

That's the one I was drawing a blank on. Thanks.

You know, we have lost a number of shows too early, but if this one doesnt get renewed, I think it will be the one that pisses me off the most and I will really start to evaluate if I ever give new shows a chance. This is by far my favorite network show and the one I look forward to the most from week to week.

this is the only show I make a point of watching "live" each week. I usually watch other shows the next night, fast forwarding through the commercials... and while I might offset 'Chuck' by about 20 minutes to do the same, I make it a point to watch each Monday night.
