The Office -- "Dream Team/The Michael Scott Paper Company" -- 04/09/09

The Office 2

2 episodes tonight, but the scheduling is a little wacky because NBC is using "Dream Team" episode as a lead-in for Parks and Recreation.

Dream Team synopsis (airs at 8pm):

Spoiler:

Following his bumpy first meetings with new boss Charles (Idris Elba), Jim finds himself squaring off with the bigwig in a soccer game in the parking lot. Meanwhile, Michael fears the new workday, so much so that he's barely able to leave his house. But that doesn't stop him from assembling his "dream team."

The Michael Scott Paper Company synopsis (airs at 9pm: usual time):

Spoiler:

Former romantic rivals Dwight and Andy form an unlikely kinship and plan a hunting trip together. Meanwhile, supervisor Charles demands a rundown from Jim---but Jim has no clue what "rundown" actually means. And Michael holds a Paper and Pancakes company luncheon, but it might end up as a flat affair.

So if you don't plan to watch Parks and Recreation and don't watch 30 Rock, set your DVR's accordingly.

Very smart programming. Something you'd expect anyone would call a no-brainer except NBC execs.

No offense, but wouldn't your DVR automatically skip it if it wasn't The Office? Not sure how non-TiVo's work, but a DVR should certainly tell you that you were scheduling incorrectly somehow, no?

It figures that the first night they're airing two episodes is the night I have to work until 9pm. I'll have to catch them tomorrow on MySpace.

It's called tent-polling, when you shove a show that likely won't draw an audience between two popular shows.

So any word on who the Dream Team is? I know Ryan was in the previews, but...

Spoiler:
is he trying to get Jan and her vast knowledge of Dunder Mifflin and the paper industry too?

I happen to know someone who doesn't use the season pass feature and always sets her programs manually. That's the only reason why I made that statement.

You mean Hulu.com. Myspace doesn't show streaming TV anymore.

Okay not to go off topic but ... so she's using her DVR like a VCR. Anyone doing that would need to reference a TV Guide online daily much less weekly to keep up with current programming. Why would you only "half" embrace the technology like that?

Anyway - looking forward to all three hours of NBC tonight!

The second episode was better than the first. The beginning with Michael pulling up listening to Lady GaGa then going 'it's Britney, bitch', to trying to parallel park in a huge spot and hitting the car and driving off to squeeze into a spot and having to climb out b/c he couldn't open his door(phew), was one of the best openings in awhile.

I liked the 2nd more than the first. New intro was

The song = awesome.

That rundown is going to sink Jim. I think he's gonna end up at Michael's company.

I think it's more that Jim was asked for the rundown so they could divvy up his clients and fire his butt. Not doing the rundown might actually delay his departure slightly. I think it's obvious that he's not going to work out as long as Charles is there, though
