hmm.....maybe I'm not understanding, there was a previous rachel when she was a young kid (yvonne zima). But Halley Hirsch played her as a teenager:

Right, and when Hirsch was brought in to play Rachel, they couldn't very well have flashback scenes with Zima, so Hirsch redid the scenes for the "previously on ER" clips.
