I thought Adam was very good again this week.
Starting to like Allison less and less each week.
Think Matt most commercial of the group.

I'm sorry, but Adam is not an American Idol. This is just the wrong contest or forum for him. He belongs in some Rock Star or Broadway type competition. Just like Chris Daughtry. He didn't belong on American Idol either. It wasn't his style and it was so obvious he hated being there. But needed the break. And it paid off. But Adam has had succes most haven't. And as much as I can't stand the guy, I think he will have a very long career on the Broadway stage or in some glam rock band. But he's no pop star.

The only performance I liked all night was Kris (and I'm not a Kris fan). Everyone else ranged from ok to awful.

Anyway, for getting to pick their own songs from any genre, it was a pretty bad week. The only performances I thought were good were Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert, and Kris Allen. That being said, I voted about 50 times for Megan Corkery, kind of a "vote for the worst" type thing. Plus she's cute.
I think it will come down to her and Anoop tomorrow night, with Anoop leaving.

Not sure why you are sorry. If you are comparing Adam to Daughtry then that is high praise indeed. I don't think American Idol is looking for the next pop star, it is looking for the next star. Even if you don't win the show, the exposure is the most important thing (Daughtry for example). So Carrie Underwood is a pop star? There are many many more that either won or became at least somewhat famous from this show and were not pop stars. I don't think Simon or the Idol producers care what type of music they sing as long so they sell records. Adam is not my favorite but he is in my top 4-5 in the show this year. I like what he has done in the last 2 weeks. 3 weeks ago... not so much.

Daughtry made the final 4, that's not really getting voted off early. It was just shocking that he didn't make the final 3 when Eliot Yamin edged him out.
Adam is going to win this season. He's the consistent crowd pleaser with plenty of stage presence, vocal range, and makes good choices in how he sings the crap-ass choice of songs they are assigned.
Allison looked like Pebbles Flintstone. She didn't out-do Gwen on "Don't Speak", so she should not have bothered.
Lil is crashing and burning. She looked a little like Tori Spelling with that hairdo framing her face. That's not a compliment.
Megan was horrible, a total one-trick enunciation pony who has worn out her welcome.
Scott's voice is too thin to listen to for any extended period of time (i.e. for the duration of a single song, it would seem).
Matt is so confused, and his performance are far too safe and boring.
Kris is using the most of what he's got and keeping things spare and lowkey, but it's working for him.
Anoop is pure karaoke.
Danny's rasp irriates my ears. Didn't like the song choice.

I'm forecasting an Indian tsunami with a slight chance of blind showers.
No way they'll let Megan go and leave the show with only 2 girls and nothing for the male audience to look at.

The first half of Adam's song I was actually liking it. The second half fell apart with all the screaming.
Megan was beyond awful and the outfit was very motherly this week, she might be gone because of cloths choices.
I can't be the only one that saw David Spade take gum out of his mouth and stick it underneath his chair?

Anyway, Patman stole my thunder on a lot of my comments.
Lil's voice is being exposed more and more every week.
While I love Megan, it's becoming less and less in a "singing way" every week. I keep feeling like maybe this will be here week and now I am realizing that week is never coming.
Adam is a love/hate person but even in the context of the song I loved parts and hated others. But it's the hated that resonates with me.
Anoop made a really bad song choice and one of these weeks is not going to be able to survive because of it.
Scott is horrendous. That rendition of "Just the Way You Are" was awful. No feeling at all. He sounds like he is auditioning for a HS musical. And he wouldn't get the lead.
I know people hate Danny but he has pipes and I liked his version better than Rascal Flats.
I have never agreed with the producers more than I do about Matt. he needs to move away from the rock stuff and more towards the R&B...and I hate R&B. I likes his performance but his voice seemed wasted on that song.
It was my least favorite of Allisons performances by a mile.
It was my favorite Kris Allen performance and without a doubt my favorite of the night. He took an old song, made it current and sang the heck out of it. Paula nailed it when she said it could be the first record off his album. I might even download it.
Best:
Kris
Danny
Good:
Matt
Adam
Barely Average:
Lil
Allison
Bottom 3:
Anoop
Megan
Scott
Going home:
Anoop (and I am sad to say it) Spot 1 + forgettable performance = going home.

Surpised at the the hate for Allison. I like her performance.
Can't stand Adam's screaming.
Megan is unbearable. Only saving grace is if she sang naked and I put on mute to watch.

I can't believe the judge's love for Scott tonight. His vocals weren't terrible, but he just sounds (and looks) like he's competing for 1981 Soft Rock Idol against Christopher Cross and the guys from Air Supply. And speaking of, how the hell did "Just the Way You Are" top any iTunes download list?
Lil Rounds is free falling with these horrid song choices... Celine? Really? I understand you want to 'show other sides' or whatever, but after consecutive subpar weeks it's always a good idea to go back to the tried and true to remind people why you're there. I have to give her redit, though... she takes her criticism like a trooper - unlike Megan, whose growing cockiness is unappealing and completely undeserved.
No Doubt wasn't a bad choice for Allison, but I expected more from it. She voice was pretty shaky and I wonder if she would have been better suited picking a more uptempo song of theirs (assuming it was on 'the list').

Re: American Idol Top 9, March 31 / April 1, "iTunes Week"
I also liked Allison's performance. The outfit didn't really phase me at all. It was a bit over the top, but not really all that unusual. I thought the song sounded pretty similar to the "No Doubt" version. So, while not at all original, she proved that she has the talent to make a hit single.
I also loved Kris, and thought his performance was the best of the night. I think I've downloaded 2 Idol Songs from Itunes- Daughtry's version of "Hemmorage" and David Cook's version of "Innocent." "Ain't No Sunshine" will likely become the third. I've always loved that song, and his cover really updated it to the point that I could hear it on the radio right now.
Matt was also really enjoyable for me. I must have heard something very different from the judges, because I thought he did a great job. I like musicians with eclectic styles- and would get bored with an album where every song sounds the same (which the judges seem to want.) I'm a fan of James Morrison- one of his songs was even used as the Idol send-off song a few years ago. Some of his songs are bluesy, some are rock, some are pop. This is the type of artist I see as comparable to Matt.
Megan is just in her own league of awful. She needs to go home- NOW.
Lil was terrible. The song was too big for her, and this was her week to really shine. Instead, she fell flat and looked her worst. Forget Allison's dress for a minute and look at Lil's- the rear angle was terribly unflattering and no angle was particularly flattering. Worse yet, I'm starting to hear Fantasia-like lisps out of Lil. Last week, I would have sworn she got veneers. Something just seemed off.
Anoop was blah. He doesn't deserve to go home before Scott or Megan, but he just might. I loved him last week, but his song choice this week was all wrong and he came off as too cocky and unlikeable.
Scott's voice is too thin, as was previously mentioned. Perhaps he has a future as a songwriter, but not as a singer-songwriter.
I hate Adam. I told my husband last night that everything he sings just wreaks of sexual energy. It's like every song could be background music in some amateur porno flick. I can't quite put my finger on it. Last night, it also occurred to me that he could play the lead in "Jesus Christ Superstar."
Danny was good, and some notes were great. However, I'd like to see him mix it up a little. He plays it too safe and the judges need to call him out on it, to be fair. I do like that he always connects to the lyrics and has the life experience to understand what he's singing.
It's gotta be Megan or Scott going home this week. Or Adam, if a girl can dream!

Just about anything Danny does does not look effortless, while Adam makes just about anything he does look effortless. That's the performance gulf between the two frontrunners.
Kris is going to be stuck in at coffee-house performance zone that won't galvanize his fanbase or pick up votes from the fanbases of fallen contestants along the way to the final four.
The other problem with Scott is that because his voice is thin, he can't sing songs in the proper key, and it makes his vocals stay "high" when the song needs to be sung in a lower key.

Well, Daughtry didn't win. That was my point. So to me, he was voted off early. And no one was more shocked than him. He knew he was the best singer that year. Like most. But the tweens didn't think so.

I think Simon would not be too happy of Danny won this season, much like when Taylor Hicks got the blue-hair vote to win season 5. But I think Simon is also rather fearful of an Adam win this season in terms of marketing, but at least Adam is appearing to be very humble and appreciative while on stage after his performances, while Danny just continues to give me a d-bag vibe about him from day one that hasn't changed for me.
