I think the first two seasons were great, as they were able to mesh new characters like Janice, Richie Aprile and Furio into Season 2 and the show got better. After Season 2, the show still had great episodes like 'The Pine Barrens' but were offset by stretches of other shows around that seemed to lag.

Season 3 was the first quality drop, as it just seemed to lose something, as I said maybe because of the death of Livia. It was still good and I enjoyed it, but just lacked something. I also think that Tony's sessions with Melfi seemed almost pointless starting in Season 3, as she was such a great character and Chase couldn't just get rid of her.

Season 4 started off great, but once Furio and Carm started to fall for each other and Bacala and Janice too, the show seemed to lose focus and would just zig zag from storyline to storyline.

Season 5 with Tony seperated from Carm was probably the worst, IMO. I love Buschemi, but by then you knew any new character would be whacked somehow, as it sorta became predictable.

Season 6, part 1 and part 2 were better because I was anticipating the ending of the show and everything hitting the fan, but both seasons stalled midsteam, and you just wonder if Chase really knew what direction he wanted to take the show. Although Phil Leotardo was a great character!

The ending, dont get me started, big cop-out by Chase, IMO.

I completely agree. She was too annoying. They could have easily toned it down a bit.

I can't even tell if you are being serious or just yanking chains, but in the event you are being serious...

"Rosebud"/Citizen Kane has been poked fun and discussed in TV shows and movies for many, many years now.

Like you said, Vader is in pop culture, and sadly, parents these days are letting their kids start watching Star Wars with EPISODE ONE so I don't think it matters any more.

And as far as Planet of the Apes, I never used to flaunt my knowledge of the end of that movie before Fox decided to use a spoiler right on the cover of the DVD. Then it was fair play.

All of these have been around for an awfully long time. It's not perverse pleasure. I guess I think it's just fair game after a certain period of time. :shrug:

And, in reference to Sopranos, I appreciate that people may not have watched the series yet. There are TV shows I am meaning to watch myself that haven't gotten around to yet. From time to time, yes, I come upon a spoiler that I did not want to read, and it's not where you'd expect to see a spoiler (one recent example was a MAJOR spoiler mentioned in a caption of a still from Battlestar Galactica in a newspaper. I just happened to glance over it and it stuck out like a sore thumb, I wasn't reading the article to avoid spoilers and sure as hell didn't expect to see one so obvious under a picture.)

However, I don't get pissed off at such things. I could have been more proactive and watched it on DVD now if I really wanted to see it before now, but I chose to wait. When did Sorpranos come out? Like 1999, wasn't it? Maybe 2000? The season where Tony's mother died was a long ass time ago. If I hadn't seen the series and saw the thread title, I wouldn't have been mad. Shoot, seeing just a cast picture in a magazine will clue somebody in that she may not be in all the seasons for some reason.

Plus, in this case it wasn't so much that the character died but rather that the actress died. I wouldn't consider Nancy Marchand dying to be a spoiler. It would have been pretty much impossible to recast that role.
