I've been saying for years that this show has to end... but, I still watched.
And now that it's almost over, I can't believe that I'm feeling sad.
I know it's time. I think it's been time for a few seasons now.. but I am going to miss it.
I think the reason why this show worked for so long was because of the revolving cast. George Clooney and Anthony Edwards knew when it was their time to leave as did the others. Some left too soon and some stayed too long.
But, I really think every character brought something to this show.

I chuckled at the promo I saw last night: "tune in for the last one before the last one..." :)

Funny thing is I stopped watching completely after season 5 but I've been tuning in recently and yep, it's sad to think the show is coming to an end.

Quick cameo of Shane West, but that's it.

Was that really Archie singing? or a case of the Milli Vanilli?

Septemberbaby 03-27-09 01:58 PM

No, I think that was him... I've heard him sing before and I'm pretty sure that was him.

I'm with the others.. this episode was not so good.. hopefully, they're saving the best for last.

I haven't seen a single episode in nearly 5 years (unless you count about 10 minutes of the 300th episode), but watching this preview actually got me choked up. Gonna definitely have to watch this one.

It was kind of fillerish as a penultimate episode, but I thought it was fine.

Re: ER - The Final 2 Episodes -- "I Feel Good" -- 03/26/09

I just felt a little let down that really *nothing* that important or meaningful happened in this episode.. (unless you count the baby mama drama and the Neela stuff) I just was looking for more significant events to occur in the "last one before the last one"...

It makes me think that ER is going to go out not with a bang, but a whimper. Very unlikely it would be as blase as the Sopranos ending, but I think the viewer rewards came in bits and pieces scattered throughout this final season -- oh shit, especially the Dr. Greene flashback -- when he opened that ambulance door to Angela's dying son I just totally lost it. I wasn't expecting it at all and I literally cried throughout most of the last half of that episode.

Anyway, I think our Finale has been given to us in the various poignant returns of the old characters, the locker name plates stuck on the wall really got to me as I remembered various plot lines throughout the years and what happened to the different characters. And so like, you'd expect the ending to a show like **ER** to be just really earthsmashing exciting -- but I think in the last ep this next Thursday, we will just have County ER quietly fade away in its rush and bustle with no whistles or bells. Of course I could be wrong, and hope I am :)

You can tell I have always been very, very fond of this show, even though it kept going longer than perhaps it should. I still loved watching all the melodrama and tension and affection and, well, yeah, all of it. I will be Very sad when it's gone. I have just gotten used to it being there for a significant portion of my life. Heh, I'll seek counseling. Aw yeah, I gotta miss it.

And Carter. I just cannot accept his fate. But, I think of others like Gallant and Greene, and, well. Crap.

is it me or is it kind of shitty for Clooney to put that clause on his contract

to not feature him in any of the ads or mention him in anything...

Re: ER - The Final 2 Episodes -- "I Feel Good" -- 03/26/09

That would be a dicky thing to do.

But I thought they did mention him. You know lately after each episode (maybe during too, not sure) they'll have some jazzy little brief thing with a plug to go to the web site if you missed so-and-so or whatever... Wasn't he mentioned in one of those a few weeks ago? I could be imagining that.

The one last week after "I Feel Good" was Angela, I think, saying something like, "So, Nurse Velma/Samantha/whatever versus Nurse The-Original-Hottie-With-The-Curly-Black-Hair? Go to the NBC web site and blah blah blah!" (I'm having serious sleep deprivation and cannot even remember their freaking names right now...)

But anyway, it really does seem like they did one mentioning Dr. Ross very recently. Hum.

Oh, and as IF Samantha could even remotely come close to the beauty of Nurse Hathaway. (I think I just remembered her name, I'm totally not sure. But I do vaguely remember how she made her entrance at County - wasn't it after she had attempted suicide? I bought Season One but I haven't watched those discs in forever...)

But I'm straying. Yes, if Clooney had some clause like that, that's shitty as heck.

Hathaway was a minor character in the pilot, and more of a plot device. She commits suicide but her fate is left muddy since it was intended for her to die in the episode, leaving Ross stricken with grief as a major plot line of season 1. Test audiences really liked her though, so she recovered and became a series regular. It's a good thing too since the Hathaway/Ross relationship was perhaps the most integral storyline to ER's success early on.
