To be fair, the President and Larry both know Jack does whatever necessary to get the job done. I think at this point, they know his heart is in the right place, but he frequently steps over the line. The POTUS & Larry are "by-the-book" and want Jack to get in line. It's not out of the question that Jack may have taken the interrogation too far to extract the info he needed. Also, he is not affiliated with or work with any government agency. He's a lone civilian taking matters into his own hands leaving a trail of bodies in his wake, including innocent civilians.
Regardless of the good Jack has done, I can understand two high level people wanting to reign someone like Bauer in so that they can do their jobs accordingly.

Great episode with that awesome fight scene at the end - really exciting stuff... however, was Jack taking stupid pills when he let Mayor go answer that door? Seriously, the old 'it's the police' is the oldest trick in the book.

I can understand Moss also. If Walker fucks up, he takes the hit, not her. If Jack fucks up while under his command, he is the one going to answer for it. And Jack basically admitted last night that innocent people have died because of decisions he has made, so it is understandable that no one really wants him running around loose. He has been a bitch about it usually, but it is realistic that a higher level person would want to be the one in control of all aspects of an operation.

One reason Larry's being an a-hole towards Jack is jealousy. He and Renee are obviously close and in less than one day, she's thrown all that away and sided with Jack at nearly every moment.
I like the character though. Honestly, is he all that different from George Mason circa Season 1? That guy was always a pain in the ass until the very end of the day when they discovered Nina was the mole.

No sense in keeping the guy who killed one of the bad guys, along with the Senator alive .. Nah, just throw a screwdriver into him, and then attempt to pound it in with a piece of lumber .. Nevermind, he fell on it .. Dead men tell no tales.
As smart as Jack seems to be, the brain gets switched to "off" when these situations come up.

Great episode again. I thought that Jack and the Senator working together would make a good storyline and blam he gets shot. I didn't see that one coming at all.
As for Moss, another reason he hates Jack is that he sees Rene is totally down with Jack.

Reign him in, yes. "Shoot on sight," no. It'd be believeable he'd take an interrogation too far, but to murder the only guy with info.? Doubtful. And then what, he shot the Senator with a high-powered rifle from the front door? They'd find his prints all over the inside, and then he walked around to the front door and opened fire and then jumped through a plate glass door to escape?
My main beef is that the FBI guy won't even think beyond "Jack is on a killing spree," but like's been said, I guess he's too blinded by jealousy over Renee.

C'mon people, we all know that in the 24 universe, all federal agencies are basically staffed by morons (and moles), and it's up to Jack Bauer to save everyone! But I'll agree that the FBI is taking it to a whole new level this season.

Kickass episode.
Jack going one on one with Quinn was great. Death by screwdriver was even better.
It was too bad that the Senator and Jack let their guards down. Would have liked to have seen them work together for a few more episodes.
Larry hates Jack because he knows he's gradually losing her to him.
Didn't realize that Blowfish encryption software actually existed until I did a Google search. This guy also says it was mentioned in a previous season, which I don't seem to recall.

Oh yeah, also forgot to mention, weird that they got Sprague Grayden and then started to ape a story plot point from Jericho. Starkwood = Ravenwood.

11.34M viewers and 3.7 in 18-49. I think it's fair to say that 24 is definitely back. The numbers have been really consistent the last several weeks.

I thought for sure that Chloe's husband was going to say "Yeah, because I invented it" about the Blowfsh encryption. That would have been funny. I really liked this episode, but like others, I am worried that the POTUS's daughter is going to be one of the bad guys... either that or she will be one of the ones that is so stupid that she just keeps getting in everyone's way making things worse. But with how quickly she pulled the info about the reporter's story it makes me think that the "mole" possibility is the right one.

I can't decide who I despise more, the prez's daughter or Larry.
Agent Moss is a complete buffoon. It's Jack Bauer, who's saved the country many times over, and Moss is some head FBI guy, yet he can't possibly think beyond what he sees? Can't even CONSIDER that Jack didn't go on a murderous spree--just "shoot on sight" and that's that. Dimwit.

I think it would have been cool to have the senator stay around for a while before getting killed and leave the viewer up in the air as to if the senator was really helping jack or ready to turn on him and turn him in
Need a few more villians into the story

As far as the daughter/POTUS story line goes. I think it was the POTUS's advisor who called in the tip on himself to the reporter to make the daughter look bad.

I think it's safe to say Voight is making sure Jack will have a good supply to bad guys to kill once his crew fully assembles.
Hope Tony didn't have anything important to say to Jack when he called him, come on Jack you're going to be driving to the docks I'm sure you can spare a few minutes for Tony. It's not like talking and driving is the worst thing you've ever done.
Or maybe I'm just over thinking that part and Tony just wanted him to fill him in a bit more.
*Self-sacrifice is the only thing that can save Larry. In a Jack Bauer world there's no room for you!
