The first half was a little shaky, but the second half with Dwight and Michael trying to suddenly take credit for the idea was great. Which is odd since most Office episodes start out strong before losing steam toward the end.

I'm curious if Andy's dig at Jim and Pam for having a perfect relationship was in response to some fans thinking that the two have become boring since hooking up.

Darryl's reaction to Michael asking him what a pallet is was classic.

Sounds to me Andy is taking the behavioral approach to being bitter toward women or even just down with love.

Loved this episode. When Dwight slapped Michael with the KGB joke I couldn't stop laughing.

And then when Dwight justified Jim slapping him for the second KGB joke, it really brought it home.......

Not feeling the "love" for this episode...I really didn't care for it, aside from the dating subplot with Kevin.

I got hung up on the 5 ticket thing. Like any company would expect them to honor all five at once.

I think that's why Jim asked the rep on the phone whether the tickets said "one per customer".

Saw that coming when Michael was putting them into boxes that were practically right next to one another, but still funny.

"An Obama fashion show. Whatever, that is."

David Wallace: This is huge.
Dwight: That's what she said. ;)

This was a brilliant episode. One of the best this season, for sure.

I was bored with it, too. I'm increasingly growing tired of Michael's antics and the fact that he hasn't been fired yet. I know it's a TV show, but it's gotten so far out of the realm of even remote believability that I struggle with it.

I mean 10% off total order? First of all, there's no real reason he should have been able to do that w/o running it by corporate first. In the real world he would have been immediately offed.

Anyway, those are my thoughts; I have a feeling they'll be unpopular in this thread.

You don't get fired in this world when you do the business Michael does. It has been established that his branch has been outperforming everyone. You get an inordinate amount of leeway in corporate situations when that is the case. Until his shenanigans "cost" the company more than he's bringing in, they will tolerate his ridiculousness.

The "Golden Ticket" is a remake of Cheers' "And God Created Woodman".

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0539690/plotsummary

I can't tell you how the plot is so similar to each other.

I totally agree with you. Over the last 2 seasons, they've turned Michael from an awkward doofus whose heart was usually in the right place into a completely unlikable self-centered prick. He was willing to let Dwight, one of if not the company's top salesmen, get fired for his mistake. That's such an extreme lack of character that I eagerly await the day that Michael gets his true comeuppance, preferably in the form of a horrible car accident or something. I now prefer to see him miserable, so having all the other employees in the office rally behind Dwight was definitely a high-point of the episode for me.

Cheers hardly invented this particular plot idea.

The best part was when Michael went to the warehouse and approached Darryl and said, "How could be you be so stupid..." to which Daryl cut him off and replied, "Start over."

This isn't to you, but to anyone.

If you all feel that the show has gone downhill, why do you still watch it? Aren't there other things to waste your time doing? I'm seeing more people complain than enjoy the hilarity and great stories this show brings every week. It's the only consistent show on television right now.

I don't blame you for feeling that way. I mean, he is the guy who made you sit up on that table on your first day in the office and embarrassed you, causing you to quit. I'd be pissed also.

I'm still not sure why Michael was so concerned when the first ticket was found. 10% off of 3 pallets hardly seems like a significant amount.

I liked it better when WKRP in Cincinnatti did it.

Yes, you do. There are numerous things that he has done that would have gotten him fired in our real world, regardless of his performance. He's never even really been reprimanded that we have seen. The attitude would be: "If this is the top branch, imagine how strong their performance would be if they didn't have an idiot running it."

I think the point of the show is that Michael, even though a horrible branch manager, isn't really much different from those running the show on the corporate level, so he gets away with it.

I have no idea how Michael Scott remains employed cosidering his immature behavior.

I think they said the ticket was for 10% off their orders for a year.

Probably because it's a television show.

To everyone wondering how Michael stays employed despite gross incompetence and insubordination, get a job in the corporate world and you'll see it's not that much of a stretch. ;)

At my company, he could probably pull all that without getting results and still keep his job.
