Great ending at the hardware store
Also like the not so subtle cut right from Skyler and her boss holding hands to the screw being drilled into the wood

Walt has now gone completely Alpha. I can't even understand what's going on inside his head. Bryan Cranston is incredible in this role.

Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
Great episode. Walt is just getting greedy. He started out wanting to pay for his own treatment without anyone's help and provide for his family's future; noble intentions if ever there was such a thing. Now though, he is getting greedy and just wants to buy new things, etc.
I can understand Walt hesitating to be happy about the news for two reasons: 1.) Out of nowhere you get the terrible news that you have cancer and are going to die and then all of a sudden you get better? Seems too good to be true; and 2.) He has done A LOT of bad stuff as a result of getting sick that probably make him think less of himself as a person.
I felt bad for Hank in the beginning; he's kinda an over-the-top machismo jerk sometimes, but I think of all the main characters he is probably the "best" person.
And I'm gonna have to agree with Dr Mabuse's prediction; didn't think that myself, but now that he said it, it makes sense and would be an excellent red herring all along. One thing I did notice is that the people clearing out the debris/evidence were wearing the same suits that Walt had on. What if those really were body bags, only it was Walt Jr. and Skyler that died because of the faulty water heater...

I immediately thought the water heater was going to cause the explosion too - hell, Walt even mentioned to Walt Jr. it had some emergency safety shutoff something. But I think it's just there as a red herring. I think somehow it will be a drug dealer related "hit" attempt, with maybe the dealers being the two in the bags. I don't see them killing off Walt Jr. AND Skyler.

I was wondering if Walt installed the tankless water heater correctly in terms of making sure there was a return flue (that was up to code) because I had thought about tankless when replacing my water heater in 2007, and it would have required more work done to my house to get the requisite piping in place.

Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
I too agree that it is a red herring.. Walt is an educated chemist who has shown that he takes precautions and is careful enough to cook pounds of meth without blowing himself up
- I'm sure that he is competent enough to check for leaks on a water heater, and follow directions... more so than a professional "installer" who more often than not may have the education level and work ethic of a Jessie.
Hell, we see that walt is handy enough to get under the house and rip out studs, and replace them for days on end. I'm sure he could screw in a few fittings on a water heater.

As soon as I saw the water heater I thought the same thing that Dr. Mabuse thought but it seems like the writing is too good just to give us that big of a hint and that it is probably a red herring.
Does anyone know how many more episodes we have left until the end of the season.

Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
I've seen that plenty for real.
The quiet, awkward nerd who's lived a neurotic life of self doubt and fear finally goes a little wild, gains a little confidence, then often goes too far. Hank has a taste of not buckling under to his wife, not cowering in the face of life and the world, and he likes it. Man Cranston just pulls it off so naturally and makes it look effortless, he should have the Emmy this year too.
That often happens even with the nerdy, unexposed 'good' girl or boy who goes to college and winds up inked up, sleeping with half the campus and too wasted on drugs to handle classes. How much more a guy who gets long green rolling in and is in the crime world. I can tell you that's what has him resenting his BIL and his 'authority' too, he's the enemy now and Walt is feeling it in his bones.
Maybe you guys are right about the water heater, but that is one job that really requires a pro. There is a LOT involved in a tankless system on an older adobe house. More than could be done without an official code inspection, even by a pro installer in the state of NM btw. A hell of a lot more than just hooking up gas feeds and pipes and all.
Could be a curve ball though, like some of you said.
The wife just being desperate with the fake tears to get the hound dog smelling her tail was painful to watch. Then she just dispensed with the self delusion and started slapping pencil holders.

Yeah I lost it when she knocked it off her desk. Too funny (and yet very sad).

Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
This is THE show outside of Mad Men that keeps my eyes glued to the screen.
Awesome season so far...I had my doubts after season one ended (I felt it was rather abrupt), but damn I was proven wrong.
Also, this show is great with it's use of music. That TV on the Radio song was a great choice.

The main reason I don't don't think the tankless heater causes the explosion (besides it being very obvious) is why would hazmat suits be needed to clean up an explosion like that?

Great episode again and the whole ending sequence was great with the advice on buying supplies one minute and then staking his territory the next, loved the look on Walt's face.

Fantastic show and an incredible season.
I was shocked Cranston won on 7 Eps last year, but Damn, hes looking at Back to Back.
I think this might not end well for his Brother in law.

Incredible episode. This show is so good.
I expected something bad to happen to Combo. I figured he was trying to get the kid out of there in case something bad went down; I definitely wasn't expecting the kid to kill him. Too bad to see him go, I always enjoyed Jesse hanging out with him, Skinny Pete, and Badger.
And Jessie reverts back to his junkie nature; I felt bad for him when Combo died, but he just can't stop getting high and messing things up. And now he's getting his girlfriend hooked again too.
I figured the owner of the restaurant was the big-timer; they did a really good job with that meeting/interaction. It figures Jesse would let Walt down in such a situation; I thought the parallels of Jesse's desperation and Walt's desperation there at the end was great too.

I figured the kid was going to be the shooter when he was circling around Combo
The meeting between Walt and his new distributor was a great scene. Jesse is such a mess.

Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
I can honestly say that this show surprises me. I've watched a lot of TV and movies, I dare say that most of you guys here have as well, yet this show moves in directions that both makes total sense, and flies out from nowhere at the same time. I might be able to call things maybe an episode early, but if I were to guess episode summaries 3 shows in advance from now I'm sure I'd be nowhere close.
Great show.

Giancarlo Esposito in the house!
He could become the new main partner. Man there's some cool casting on this show.
That was sloppy and stupid as hell of Walt to tell 'the man' he had the supply ready "at a moment's notice", then just leave it at that, not notify Jesse, not make ANY plan, not any type of readiness. When he was just busting in the back door that was crazy, Walt was just going Rambo. Pretty awesome.
If you mix speed with your heroin you don't just sleep it out like that. Meth is strong stuff. The idea is to stay awake enough to enjoy to heroin and NOT pass out. Also Jesse would have vomited big time on that first run, I guess they wanted to clean that up. The scene of him floating was excellent.
Now Jesse, who was a pipe man, has woken up the junkie in the girl. You could tell in the previews she was manipulating him. Jesse is kinda easy to do that too. Explains why her father, Q, was coming by checking up on here.
Another great episode.

Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
Another great episode, Jesse definitely awakened the beast in his girlfriend, I am so excited to see how the big drop/maybe missing his daughter's birth for 1.2 mil payout goes.
Also, based on previous episodes, I can't wait to see how crazy Walt turns when the girlfriend trys to blackmail him.

this show is simply amazing. bryan cranston got robbed of emmys year after year when he was on malcolm in the middle, but he deserves every accolade he gets for this show. he's phenomenal.

I would miss the birth of my kid for $1.2Million
I was thinking to myself - don't answer the phone! get to the truck stop - 1 hr isn't that big a deal.
He is lucky Jessy was home - I don't think he would have found the stuff in less than 1hr.
Loved the careful, timid, drug king pin - warning Walt to never trust a junky!
