BEST EPISODE YET this season!
Frobisher pulling out of his Zen crap & that carbon copy scene with his 'regular'.
Heartfelt stuff between Patty and Uncle Pete, who I initially thought wasn't really a blood relative. Pete is hardcore!!
But slender Ellen -- not quick enough to reunite with her hitman in the hospital.
And that teaser "3 months later"
Nice that the UNR/Kendrick/Purcell/Maddox stuff has taken a back seat the past two episodes -- the show has upped the level.

Definitely. Writers know how to heighten the suspense & twist stuff around... that flash-forward with Ellen/Patty could turn out to be some hallucination (Ellen should wean off those pills.)
With Patty not having knowledge of Patrick the hitman, and after these past two eppys showcasing Uncle Pete, is it safe to assume Pete (always looking out for Patty) was the mastermind of the hit on Ellen last season, while Patty just went along with it...and later trembled with regret?
(Patty was never shown outright to the viewers ordering to have Ellen killed, correct?)

^Correct. Great episode - but I really wish we'd get back to that flashforward where Beardo guy creeps on Ellen in the shower...

???
We were supposed to think she had him killed (which was pretty sneaky editing!), but two seconds later we saw that she was on the phone with Ellen. The guy Ellen stabbed in the first season was on the phone with the guy in the car who picked him up at the end.

No she didn't. And from their brief conversation, I doubt Pete had Patrick the hitman insert the syringe into his own IV. Great editing there to mislead the viewer.
Patrick the hitman did not make a phone call to Patty - it was to "Mikey", who picked Patrick up from the hospital after ensuring Pete would never rat on him (just to be on the safe side).
Remember a few episodes ago, Uncle Pete wanted Patrick to go into hiding and it was revealed Patty does not know the actual identity of the man hired to kill Ellen.

Great episode!
So why didn't Patty seem to care that Frobisher backed out?
BTW it just hit me that the bearded killer guy is Mel's husband on Flight Of The Conchords
