Question about Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon
My kids (and me) love the new Clone Wars cartoon on Cartoon Network and I had some questions for Star Wars nerds (I'm one too but I don't know this answer)....
1) Is this series supposed to be separate from the earlier Clone wars cartoons? In other words, since Anakin killed Asaji (or something like that) Ventress in the earlier series, is that how she goes out or is this series assuming the prior series never existed, therefore letting somebody kill her again?
2) Is this series only supposed to run for 2 years? I thought I had read that somewhere? Or will it go as long as people watch it?

I believe it takes place inbetween the earlier cartoon's 2 seasons.
It's supposedly going for 100+ episodes, so that will be a few years.

They could be taking place the same time. Some episodes taking place between the episodes of the other series. We don't actually see Ventress die. She just sort of falls out of sight. As any comic book fan knows, unless you see a body, they probably lived. It has shown Jedi jumping from insane heights so she just landed fine and ran off.

I consider myself a huge SW fan. I have the original CW cartoon DVDs, I'll even sit through the Star Wars Holiday Special, but I just cannot get into this series and did not even see the movie. Not sure what it is about it, but I just can't watch it.

The only thing I'm not liking about it so far is the screwed up release schedule/order and trying to find new eps. Can't wait for the DVD release to finally see it in the order it was meant to be.
BTW what's the other cartoon people are talking about? Was that the traditional animated one a few years back? I never bothered watching that, was it worth it?

I'm still a little bothered why they didn't approach him with a blank check for this one and tell him "do it again".

Asajj Ventress was never actually killed in the original Clone Wars cartoon. She reappeared in later comic books. If you want to see her final fate (as well as Durge's final fate) you need to read the Star Wars: Obsession five-part miniseries.

The Dark Horse comics are just as much canon as the rest of the EU.

Can the dvd's of the first two animated series still be found? It was something I kept putting off buying, and now that I'm interested, the blasted things are OOP.
Aww c'mon, at least give the movie a shot. I was skeptical too until a friend showed it at his place one Saturday night. I actually enjoyed it a lot. Did a good job of bringing back the same sense of fun as the OT.
