The cold opener was hilarious.

This cracked me up, the entire scene revealing Dwight's party planning style did actually:

IT IS YOUR BIRTHDAY.

"Shirty. Mole. Lazy Eye. Mexico. Baldy. Sugar Boobs. Black Woman."

I actually got lightheaded from laughing so hard at that. I think if it had gone any longer I might have passed out...

I'm surprised Dwight didn't post

Yesterday was your birthday.

The "It's a fact" line would've still worked.

After last week's "meh" outing, this one was pretty much gold from start to finish.

I totally agree. A lot of DVDTalkers seemed to like the Superbowl episode, but after watching it, I felt like I'd just wasted 45 minutes of my life for about 30 seconds of laughs. But this episode was hilarious from start to finish, with some nice surprises with the Karen tease and (hopefully) Holly tease.

So glad to see the show get back on track.

Man, seeing Karen really made me miss her; she was so much more charismatic than Pam is.

 That was a rewind moment, since we were laughing too hard at Shirty and Mole to catch the rest.

Why is this a spoiler? You didn't even describe the reaction.

Only the Squeaky Fromme referance made me laugh out loud. My sides hurt. Made the ep well worth it.

Michael: Is that Jim's?

Karen: No!

Michael: Oh, thank God, for everyone's sake...

(awkward silence)

Michael: Wow, you're HUGE!

^^ Best part of the episode.

Hard to tell whether I would have liked it, since (as per typical of the weekly Office thread) some people say it was one of the best episodes of the season, while others say it was one of the weakest. The truth is probably somewhere in between, I suppose.

It was funny, but it was way over the top as far as believability goes. There was no subtlety, just outrageous behavior and witty quips from everyone. I laughed several times, so I can't complain, but I think they have strayed from the original concept which is why some people probably didn't like it too much.

I loved the Jim and Dwight stuff as the party planning committee; it fit their characters perfectly and Dwight's balloons and all the odd shapes he had were great.

I didn't like Michael and Pam's trip, outside of Michael's name associations. The chainsaw for instance, was stupid. But I did like their touching moment at the end and them deciding to go find Holly.

Before watching it you wouldn't know what he handed him, although someone above put it anyway.

thought the episode was pretty funny. the chainsaw seemed pretty worthless but i understood why they had it included since he kept talking magic show performers and their sidekicks.

The scene with Dwight's party decorations was my favorite. I was on the floor! Loved the banner with the grey and black balloons...

Why did Michael and Pam have to spend the night at a motel on their trip to Karen's office, when Michael, Jim, and Dwight made a spontaneous, middle-of-the-workday trip there in an earlier episode?

And don't say a wizard did it.

I loved Pam throwing the candy bars. Another in the long line of Michael trying to do what are actually silly little things that he thinks are spectacular, like the glow sticks on casino night.

Michael and Pam's trip was supposed to be a tour of the various nearby offices. Karen's was the first stop because it's probably the closest office, and then they were going to go farther away from Scranton with the next office Michael was supposed to "speak" at.
