The episode was ok not that many jokes, also did everyone else notice that the show now has 4 acts. The next new episode (Feb 15th) will be the first to air in HD.

I'm interested to see how different it is in HD. As far as this evening went, I'm usually not a big fan of Lisa centric storylines. It was pretty good though.

When I watched, all I saw was an episode about Bart switching places with some rich kid that looks just like him.

Really, Simpsons writers? Parodying a movie based on a true story about two teenage girls murdering one of their moms with a brick?
Next thing you know, they'll have a episode where Lisa and Nelson parody a biopic about a punk musician who stabbed his girlfriend to death. Oh wait...

What was with Fall Out Boy playing during the credits? It seemed out of nowhere and I don't remember them featuring anywhere else in the episode. I haven't watched the new episodes for a while, is this something new they are doing?
I wasn't too into this episode, it had some good laughs but I didn't really like Juliet or the fantasy stuff.

They've had musicians do their own versions of the theme song over the end credits before (Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, NRBQ). In the case of Sonic Youth and NRBQ, they were actually featured in the episode, but Yo La Tengo was not (it was the episode where Homer finds out his middle name and becomes a hippie).

Heavenly Creatures had lesbian undertones, so I'm guessing that it seeped through to the parody (possibly intentionally).

Actually, I thought that was the joke. After spending the entire episode with Josh Grobin, Bart hesitates and says something completely out of left field.

It was a parody of Bridge to Terabithia except...

Have you seen Heavenly Creatures? The plot (for the first 2/3rds, at least) is much closer to that film than Bridge to Terabithia. First, it's about two girls (one of which is named Juliet, like Lisa's friend in the Simpsons), rather than a boy and a girl. The two girls are singularly obsessed with singer Mario Lanza, matching the Josh Groban obsession in the episode. The fantasy world in HC has the "melting" effect that is shown in the episode. Plus, the idea of Marge trying to separate the girls after feeling they're spending too much time together and in their own created fantasy world is from HC. Also, the two girls in HC want their writings about their fantasy world to be published, much like Lisa does by the end of the episode.
It's a much closer match to HC; other than "two friends create a fantasy world", it's not that much like BtT.

I thought it was an alright episode. Liked the dinner scene when the dad puts on James Horner's soundtrack to The Pelican Brief.
Didn't know Simpsons was going HD. That's awesome news! I had pretty much figured animated shows wouldn't be going HD. Hopefully Family Guy will, too. Speaking of Family Guy...when is there gonna be a new episode? There hasn't been one since very beginning of November. I think there's only been like five or six episodes that have aired this year.

Didn't care much for the episode, but then again I'm not into the fantasy genre.
As for Fall Out Boy, it was pretty much a marketing gimmick (probably because the band is named after the Simpsons character). FOX sent out a press release last week about it.

A mundane episode with few laughs. I have generally liked the direction the show has taken in past years to have a coherent plot but they forgot to include the funny jokes in this one.
