House -- "Painless" -- New Night -- 1/19/09

House Cast

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

At Cameron's urging, the team takes the case of a suicidal man who suffers from excruciating chronic pain---pain that mirrors House's. Meanwhile, Cuddy discovers that caring for her newly adopted baby leaves her little time to run the hospital; and Foreman and Thirteen continue to explore their complicated relationship as they work together on their Huntington's disease drug trial.

Fore...teen! Bwah-ahahahaha!

Could be placebo effect for 13. Could be she's decided to be as happy as she can be with Fore...teen. Could be she's a lying sack of crap.

For some reason I couldn't really get into this episode. Loved the Foreteen thing though.

Thirteen being on the placebo means that despite how good she may be feeling, she won't get any benefits from the medication because she's not on any of the meds. Meaning she will get sick just as fast as she would if she weren't in the trial.

Did Lisa Edelstein lose a bunch of weight? She doesn't look healthy.

I love the transition of power though

Shouldn't House have a nicer apartment? That bathtub looked like something from a Motel 6. He has no kids, no ex-wives, he should be rolling in it. You think he'd at least splurge for a jacuzzi with his bad leg.

Well, he did have the nice motorcycle and also seems to go out to eat a lot.

I like the transition of power too. Now all of the old team have a reason for being there again.

Very ordinary episode. Felt more like filler.

Epilepsy originating from the scrotum? Really?

Lisa Edelstein does look different with the bangs.

I didn't understand the point of House's plumbing problem. Especially the last segment when he was yanking at the pipes.

I'm starting to really like Olivia Wilde as 13 or Remy, but I'm not feeling much chemistry with her and Foreman yet.

I was under the impression 13 was barely showing symptoms on the tests, let alone sick enough to have good and bad days.

I didn't understand until they revealed at the end that he uses the pipes to get in and out of the tub and thus caused his plumbing problem.

Why he doesn't just install a railing is beyond me. Would be cheaper than having to fix the pipes.

The plumpher said excessive force caused the pipe to burst (haing clothes on it etc). Everytime he got in the tub, he used the pipe as support.

And like someone else said, why not install rails? Or a special tub? He's got to be loaded.

My guess would be because he's a very proud man.

I see now. Seems weird to me for them to dwell on him yanking at his pipes for a few segments. Again, this episode to felt like filler. Very unmemorable.

was a decent episode, but it did seem like filler.

the bangs aren't great but they aren't terrible either, at least IMO.

I think maybe the tie in was that House's injury was the cause of plumbing problem and his interest in the case of the week. And perhaps he was in denial or willfully blind to the effects of his injury on himself and his life.

No, it was epilepsy originating in the scrotum. The scrotum didn't cause the epilepsy, it was just the first physical sign.

It's a real medical condition that's been written up:
Scrotal pain with testicular jerking: an unusual manifestation of epilepsy.

Wow!
The acting job by the kid who played the patient's son was just awful!

So funny, I'm watching House on Netflix right now and just had to search through here to see if anyone else commented on that kid's awful acting. Thanks for agreeing with me!
