I'm hoping episode 5 does well in the ratings tonight considering there is some stiffer competition. I think it will finish 2nd in the timeslot behind the CBS comedy block and will thrash The Bachelor and Superstars of Dance.

That Jack is an excellent marksman.
I don't like the ep ending on the silent count when its not really warranted. It can be a powerful device, and I don't want to see them cheapen it.

Anyone have the name of the guy who was from the Attorney General's office?
Loved the "FBI" on the caller ID. And the inconspicuous bright yellow getaway truck.

Has the show ever used the POV camera angle before? I can't remember any other time that they have used such a device.

It's still pretty good. As long as Carly Pope is still alive I'll continue watching.

so we are in a rush to get the guy out of his safe house but.....let's make a detour and kill this broad.
so far, it's kind of a weird season. jack is still a badass, but he's not the normal jack kind of badass. not sure how much longer they can keep this ruse going to get to the main african baddie.

I might have mentioned this last week, but I still think it's funny that Ever Carradine and Jeffrey Nordling (Larry Moss) were on "Once and Again" and Nordling's character knocked up Carradine's character on that show.
I can't stand Hillinger on the show, perhaps I just can't stand the actor in this role. And then to find out he's been knocking boots with Erica, Ack!

Well, so far so good. Season 6 started having problems in Episode 5. The shock of the twist regarding Grahm being Jack's brother was quickly undone by the suckiness of everything else in that hour.
But this was tense. No show pulls that off better than 24. I could see the "surprise" with the Secret Service agent coming from a mile away, but the ending with Walker being buried was unexpected. I still think she'll make it despite the gunshot wound and silent clock, but this is almost a Ryan Chappelle-esque conundrum for Jack.
Here's hoping they can keep it up for the remaining 19 hours.

Only thing that bothered me was the fact that it took the FBI nearly 45 minutes to get to the house that was being raided by Jack and Tony. I really liked the episode otherwise, and I look forward to see where the president's dead step-son storyline goes.

To be fair, didn't they reveal he was dirty in Redmption? Although I could be wrong, since the only time I saw it was when it first aired, but I thought that was the agent they showed as being bad at the end of it.

Wow! That hour flew by fast! I wanted more.
This was a really tense episode. It doesn't bother me that Jack hasn't had any kills yet. It seems to me that every episode is building momentum to something huge later this season. Unlike season 6 when they essentially exhausted their story arc in 4 episodes and started making shit up.
Plus, you can't go wrong with an episode directed by Jon Cassar and co-written by Howard Gordon.
I really like the C plot with Carly Pope and Colm Feore. I did see the reveal about the secret service agent coming, but IMO it's definitely an intriguing mystery surrounding his son's death.
I did think it was strange that they used the silent clock on Renee being buried alive. It's a very powerful dramatic device when used right and even though it was weird, I thought it worked in this instance, especially when you heard Renee gasping for air afterwards. It gave the episode a really dark and morbid tone, especially if you include the 1st Husband being drugged and paralyzed. The POV angle was really cool.
I thought it was a total fluke that David asked Jack to shoot Renee. It was a damn lucky shot only giving her a flesh wound on her neck.
As far as the White House scenes go, even though his screentime has been limited, I'm liking Bob Gunton as the Chief of Staff. I think he's very credible in the role and makes up for some of the weakness in Cherry Jones acting. I do think Jones is a huge improvement over DB Woodside.
Overall, I was very happy with this episode.

I really hope Agent Redhead makes it out somehow; it's way too soon for such a good character to get eighty-sixed.

Loved the ending. I wonder if the writers have a giant white board of unique kills they can have Jack do that they haven't gotten to yet.
