Ugh. "F.B.I." on the caller ID. I hate the actor who plays Ethan and the character. I didn't like him last year in a lesser role and I like him even less this year.

And (preview spoilers):
Spoiler:
I really don't like how it looks from next week's previews that they are giving up on the whole Jack and Tony on the run plot. Add this to a preview I saw earlier in the week where Jack is talking to the Prez at the White House, and I have no doubt that soon enough Jack will be forced to "break protocol" to get anything done. I'm a lot less hopeful for this season now.

So, is she dead?? Have they ever used the silent clock when someone's not dead? Palmer, Edgar...
Tony, no silent clock, and not dead, so...?

They used it for George Mason in season two, when he left CTU for the last time. True, he ended up cashing in later, but he was still alive when the clock went silent.

So far so good. I predict Bauer and Walker to mix it up at least once this season.

Last I checked, Tony's not dead.

Did they use a silent clock when President Logan got stabbed? I don't remember.

Last I checked, that's what I wrote. My point was that when Tony was "killed" there were lots of postings on why Tony didn't get the silent clock, because traditionally 24 has used it when a main character has died. People thought that since Tony didn't get it, he was still alive, which it turns out he was. There was a silent clock after Renee got buried, so does that mean she's dead, or was it just so we could hear her heavy breathing, or is it a misdirection?

I would be surprised if she were dead. It didn't seem like they buried her that deep and she could push right out after they left, I would think...

No, Renee is definitely not dead:

Spoiler:

If you watched the promos for this season. There are a few scenes where she is in different clothes. There is one with her and Jack carrying someone from a car that explodes. She's definitely an integral part of this season.

First loved the closing shot of this episode...who knew 24 could be so arty?

Second, get rid of these clowns at the FBI already!

Third, Fox sucks...the promos being show for this episode spoiled three more...fucking useless if I want to stay surprised.

Last, taking this season as a whole, it is on par with Season 5...minus the FBI clowns.

David Palmer got the silent clock at the end of Season 2. He was still alive when Season 3 began.

George Mason got the silent clock when he left CTU halfway through Season 2. He survived a few more episodes(although we knew he only had hours to live).

Jack Bauer got the silent clock at the end of Season 6. He's still alive and kicking.

If anything the silent clock is just a dramatic device rather than saying someone is meeting the grim reaper. For Renee being buried alive, I thought it worked just fine.

Pretty suspensful episode, but here's what I have a problem with. The safe room didn't have an alternate power supply or backup. And someone takes the trouble to build thick walls, but leave the ventilation as a weak spot. Sounds like a lousy safe room. And how come no silent alarm that goes off when the door is sealed? And for a foreign president, he had very little body guards.

I agree...the FBI on caller-ID was lame.

Ratings were really good Monday.

Roughly 12M viewers and a 4.1 in the 18-49 demographic.

The FBI Clowns are not NEARLY as bad as the CTU clowns though. Hopefully no one gets babysitting duty while working (ala Season 3).

I will say this though...I hope they ditch the Buchanan/Chloe thing soon. I was enjoying this season immensly until they showed up with their "cover op." This was the season that would get rid of CTU yet they brought it back...just with three people.

This episode was much better simply because they didn't show up!

It wasn't a silent clock, you could hear her breathing.

I was wondering why Renee didn't play dead when Tony was helping Jack bury her. She couldn't know for sure that Tony was in on it with Jack.
Great point

I thought that added a nice extra layer of creepiness.

The House lead-in helped keep it at around season premiere numbers.

I like chloe and buchanan. I don't think most had a problem with those two..it was CTU in general.

Could be wrong, but didn't Jack ask Tony for help burying her? She could've heard that, along with his previous "just trust me" and pieced together the whole thing.

But then again, it's a show where FBI comes up on caller ID...

So far, this is our favorite season...but the Yellow Van was hilarious! My wife and I said the same thing.

My take is that the bodyguard for Mutumbo (sp) was given Agent Moss' phone number and he plugged it into his contact list as 'FBI'...so when they try to call, it comes up as FBI.

On my cell phone, if I get a call from a number not on my contacts list, it usually doesn't show a name.
