The last line of the spoiler bothers me. Does this mean we're going to get several stupid cameos?

not such a great episode, just an updated Seinfeld.

Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Benefits" -- 01/12/09
I think they integrated the guest stars nicely, even though I haven't heard of any of them. Barney cleaning was funny. Other than that it wasn't much.

It seemed like an out of place episode.. I've only seen a few episodes, but my impression is that Barney is a player... so he can get any girl, then this episode he wants to be with Robin, decides it's not right and that's it...

So-so episode; it did feel a lot like Seinfeld (the scene where they were coming up for rules about friend sex was done by Jerry and Elaine, and the whole "magazine" thread seemed like a George plotline). I did enjoy Marshall's "Thanks hot lady that my wife keeps telling why you're famous but I can never remember" line. |
Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Benefits" -- 01/12/09
Why is she famous anyway?

sextape and ass.

I liked the Barney's reactions whenever the conversation turned to Ted and Robin. You have to love Ted telling his kids about the time Aunt Robin and him were fuck buddies:lol:

Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Benefits" -- 01/12/09
Yeah I found that to be a strange story that you tell your kids but the entire show is a strange parenting show.
My favorite part was Barney at Lily's kindergarden's class' share time. |

I thought it was a good episode and they didn't overuse any of those reality stars. It did feel like a rehashed Seinfeld. Then again, if you really watch a lot of sitcoms you'll see a lot of plots are taken from Seinfeld.
Still an enjoyable episode. |

The good thing is that in the episodes where he is totally in love with Robin he can still come off as a player. The nature of the show allows flashbacks and even in this episode they were able to work in how Barney is a player. Those also just happened to be the funniest scenes in the episode too. |

"By "reading a magazine" you mean masterbating, right?" MWHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Benefits" -- 01/12/09
I loved Barney buying TVs just to destroy them. And having detailed conversations about black levels first.

Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Benefits" -- 01/12/09
After tearing through the first few seasons, I'm finally caught up and watching them live. This episode did feel a bit out of place, but hopefully this was the final nail in he coffin between Ted and Robin. For awhile there it seemed like they were going to fall into Rachel/Ross territory. For as long as Barney was more or less a stereotype on the show, it's nice to see him grow as a character.
Should be interesting to see where the show goes from here and how they're finally going to live up to the show's title. |
Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Benefits" -- 01/12/09
Its interesting that thanks to last nights close up I saw that under Barneys "Awesomeness" motivational poster in his office it says: "When I'm feeling sad, I just stop being sad and be awesome. True story." - Barney Stinson"

Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Benefits" -- 01/12/09
It was a good episode.
I still laughed when Robin and Ted said "It's a private thing", and then made the military salute. Do you think Barney and Robin will end up together? |

I hope not. That would ruin both characters. |

One thing I find funny though is how Barney is such a defender of the Bro Code, yet he seems to want throw that out the window as it relates to his best friend. Not only did he do his best friend's ex, and wants to again, but he also went on and on about wanting to do Ted's sister and even created a ruse implying that he did. |
Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Benefits" -- 01/12/09
I dug it, the reading a magazine bit, buying and then smashing tvs, barney misunderstanding what reading a magazine meant, and marshall looking up hotel rooms were all great.
