OK, what is up with the First Husband story? In the 24 movie, the President's son seemed to be married & it was his friend was the one at the stock firm that got killed. Now for the past few nights they have been talking about the son dying. Maybe it happened between the movie & season (although it seems to not be enough time) but tonight's episode had them saying the son was working at the stock firm, not the son's friend. Also his 'wife' is now just his girlfriend.

I'm enjoying it also. That secret CTU angle was one I didn't see coming. Still don't know where the season is going, but so far it's pretty fun.
BTW : Someone who is breathing via a respirator and a tracheotomy tube can't talk, so good luck with that interrogation, agent Renee.

Tonight's episodes kicked serious ass. Agree about Sean Callery's score. The escape sequence with Tony and Jack was soooo freaking intense. The score was amazing.
Absolutely love the angle with CTU being a Black Ops unit now with Bill, Chloe and Tony. That was a very good call for those of you who thought Tony was undercover.
I don't think Renee is sleeping with Larry. I think Renee probably looks at Larry as more of a mentor role. You gotta love the Jack Bauer influence on her. I'm really liking her character.
The 1st husband storyline doesn't bother me at all. I actually find it quite interesting since the son was introduced in Redemption and now there is a mystery surrounding his death. I believe Jon Voight's character from Redemption will pop up later in the season to shed more light on this mystery.
The Hacker duel with Chloe and Janice was great.
Overall, it's really good seeing Jack and Tony back as a team. And hopefully Renee will be in the mix in the not too distant future.

BTW, I thought Brad Turner did a solid job directing tonight's episodes. He's a really good "B" Director for the show and I thought he did a good job shooting the escape sequence and some of the action sequences.
Did anyone notice that Brannon Braga, formerly a Producer on Star Trek, is now a co-producer and writer on the show?

I like that this season is taking a deeper meaning by exploring if the actions Jack takes to save the country is morally ok. As others have mentioned, I really like what they're doing with Renee.
Good storyline working here. Tony, Bill, Chole and Jack are deep undercover trying to figure out this conspiracy. I'm really interested to see how far it goes up.
Even the First Son storyline isn't that bad. It seems like it is needed in the final resolution of this conspiracy.

While the "twist" with Tony, Bill, and Chloe could be seen coming from a mile away, I'm still glad it played out that way. Tony has always been a great sidekick for Jack, which is why the way he was treated in Season 5 always pissed me off.
And I agree that Renee is a great addition to the cast. She's an adversary(at least at the moment) for Jack without being a pain in the ass. That's been tough for the writers to pull off in the past. Hell, they even found a cool moment for Janis with her face-off with Chloe.
I don't mind the First Gentleman(is that the right term?) subplot. It ties directly into the main storyline, unlike the stupid Palmer nonsense of Season 3. Plus Colm Feore's a good actor, and Carly Pope's pretty easy on the eyes.
A really good start to the season. Yes, I know Season 6 had a kickass first four episodes before everything went to hell, but at least here I can see how they can milk this plot for a while before they run out of steam.
BTW, I know Evangeline Lilly's nickname on Lost is "Freckles", but she ain't got nothing on the woman playing Renee Walker.

I'm not liking where this is going. Saw the Tony being a good guy thing coming a mile away. Also, my two biggest complaints about season 6 were Jack being a supporting character in his own show and another huge inter-government conspiracy....both of which appear to be back this season. sigh.

I was disappointed to see a new CTU. And no, I don't mean Buchanan, Chloe and Tony's renegade group. I mean the FBI, which has become the new CTU, full of inept management, incompetant agents and security breaches, except that...

seeing Bill, Chloe, Jack and Tony together was almost orgasmic. A cheap pop for sure by the writers but orgasmic nevertheless

Really digging this season so far (cautiously optimistic...if it's still this good six weeks from now, I'm totally on board)...
also really like Renee but she did have the most idiotic part of the evening. After Jack escapes she states that "There is no FBI leak, stop looking for it...Bauer was doing that and tricked us!" (not exact quote) The shooter in the locked down building was able to escape, wearing an FBI jacket, all while Jack was outside the building...did she just FORGET that this happened...

Jack and Renee would make some real super hero babies.
although I hope they don't turn the geekguy and his gf on the plane into some lame subplot.

This is the 24 premise I've been dreaming about for years. Just AWESOME. Finally Jack can do what he does without "breaking protocol."
I was surprised to hear the phrase, "We're running out of time." That's new.
Second favorite line: "This is gonna hurt," before the car flies off the ramp.
It's also cool Tony really WAS w/the crew for years--makes it seem way less ludicrous, and it's just great to have him back.

The first hour last night (Episode 3) was some of the best 24 we've seen since Season 5. I feel like giving the producers a big hug for realizing that this show is the most fun when "the old gang" (for lack of a better phrase) is working together, rather than Jack going solo.
That said, I caution everyone to remember that Tony worked for three years (what is it in "24 Time" now, about 2012?!) for the bad guys before deciding to go good again...so the writers have definitely planted the seed that he might not be 100% trustworthy. Just throwing that out there for what it's worth.
Oh, and Dave Barry's 24 blogs are back! This guy's a riot:

I get the "was on the verge of an affair and slept together once, but he's married so they cut it off" vibe from them.
Renee sure got a lot of screen time -- I'm wondering if they're trying to lighten Kiefer's load.

I like the crew so far, they kept the only people that I really liked from CTu (Chloe, Bill)
Now they need to kill off the FBI and keep the people I like from there (Pretty much renee).
And make some super secret squad, so we don't have to deal with CTU/FBI anymore heh.
