JERICHO - How did I miss out on this show!?!?!

I have been watching season 1 in HD on Netflix on Demand on my TiVo HD. Wow. What a great show!!!! My understanding was that season 2 does give the show a chance to resolve itself. Is that true? I almost certain I read that the producers were given an opportunity to try to wrap things up. Did it happen or were there several loose ends left hanging?

I started watching when it first aired. I only made it about 2 episodes in. The show had such a great premise but poor execution, IMO.

I have given some thought to giving it another chance now that I see it's on both netflix and Universal HD. Maybe I'll get around to it eventually.

I watched the entire run .... even though I thought it was crap. I liked it better when it was called "Bonanza".

Don't blame us! There were numerous threads on this very forum begging people to check out the show.

For those who bailed early: the second half of season 1 is pretty good.

CBS killed it by having a huge hiatus, which effectively pushed most of it's audience away from the show.

Yup, as I recall it was getting good ratings before they decided to take a Lost like hiatus and when it came back no body cared anymore.

It was ok at first, then sucked big time, then got good.

It never got good ratings and was canceled. Zealous fans sent the network tons of nuts, and they brought it back and it continued to get bad ratings before being shut down once and for all.

It actually did get decent ratings when it premiered in the Fall of 2007.

If I recall correctly, It got around 11M viewers before the 3 month hiatus which killed it, then it dropped to around 7M.

There's actually 2 endings to the final episode. One leaves it open for a season 3 and the other supposedly wraps things up, which I don't think it really does. You will actually need to rent season 2 on DVD to see the endings.

That dude was posting every minute or so here to bump his post count so he could start another thread with some spam without looking too obvious.

Yes, Jericho is a GREAT show. One of the recent "How in the world could this show NOT make it?!?!" wonders. I loved both seasons, though the first is slightly better than the second. I don't think the show ever really "resolves" but it has a good ending.

I think what made the first season the most interesting is episode after episode of realizing how different life would be if suddenly everything changed. You don't think about the fact that you could freeze without electricity, or go hungry if trucks stop coming to town...or what happens if currency has no value?

It's very thoughtful stuff. Second season is more focused on the "why" everything happened which is still very interesting, but I could have enjoyed several more seasons of "wondering" if they'd been given the chance.

I endured the whole run and while it improved in the 2nd half of S1, it was still nothing special. It could have been a great show, but like I said when it aired, they made apocolypse look like a picnic. If the local watering hole stays in business after the bombs drop, I'll be good to go. ;)

Yeah, Jericho debuted at about 11 million, but was down to about 6 million at the end of the 1st season.

Did it have a proper ending in season 2? I'm curious to check it out but will pass if it feels unresolved.

OK, so I guess the answer is "yes" and "no."

Yes, the main storyline of the season is resolved as are most subplots.

No, because they end it in a way that opens it up for a possible third season.

But I'd say it's worth the watch, for sure.

The first couple of episodes were really good. They got awful through the middle of season 1, and then picked up at the end of the season. Season 2 was a lot better, and ended decently.

JMS's Jeremiah was a similar show and IMO, a much better one.
