Please don't suck like Season 6.

What's the over/under on the new Prez making it through the entire day? Having that job in the 24 universe is more dangerous than being the drummer for Spinal Tap.

Did you finish the season?

Not that someone disliking season 5 is unheard of, but I think most rank it up there with the first couple of seasons. I'd put it second to season 1 myself.

I have been watching week to week since the beginning.

I am really hoping this season corrects last seasons mistake. And that the twist with a certain character doesn't end up being something Romero uses in the next Dead film.

Aside from that...bring it on!

And LickTheABCs...I think you are the first person to say that about season 5. To each his own, but I am surprised.

That's why I asked if he finished the season. I remember the weekly threads and there was a lot of hate early on for both characters, but by the end of the season it was a complete turnaround.

Somewhere, there's a hospital ward packed with 24's presidents.

Well, except for the first Palmer.

Yes, I actually forced myself to finish the season. Although, that was the time I told myself that I wouldn't be watching the sixth season.. and I didn't.

Well. Tony has always been one of my favorite characters and now that he's back, I figured I'll watch the 4-hour 2-night premier and If I enjoy it, I'll season-pass it.

Even while it was running, I had concerns about Season 5. While it was right up there with Seasons 1 and 2 in quality, it did run out of steam towards the end. The "death" of Tony was lame, so lame in fact that the writers caved in and brought him back. And while the heel turn for a certain character was a shocker, it also meant that person was essentially done as a regular on the show which was a shame since it was an Emmy-quality performance.

Couple that heel turn and lame death with all the other characters who were offed or written out of the show and suddenly Season 6 was left with hardly any remaining major players. And we saw how all the actors brought in to replace them fared. I think that's Season 5's biggest failing. The writers used up so much material that year that there was nothing left for the following season and the show crashed and burned.

Gonna give this a shot... hope it doesn't disappoint.
Those two were AMAZING, and should have won their respective supporting actor/actress categories that year.

Tony's death was really the only thing I didn't like about season 5. Season 6 crashed because they had a really great idea, that just fizzled around episode 10. The show did get better towards the end, but I totally agree.

As for Tony's heel turn, I personally have no issue with it. In fact I thought season 6 should have been called "Jack Bauer: Fugitive", but alas the writers had no interested in that...it would have been cool if they did.

Since Im new, what was the biggest hate towards season 6? Granted it has its issues but I don't see it as bad as I have heard mentioned. Its funny, I heard the criticisms of season 6, and I expected some outlandish shit, but I didnt think it was all bad. Maybe I had such lower expectations but still. Some of the really big problems were similar to others in previous seasons. Im beginning to think its the "Heroe's Syndrome" (that is certain seasons are regarded more foundly and certain problems about those seasons are "forgotten" about).

FantasticVSDoom, have you seen the previous seasons or just season Six?

The whole family drama was total jump the shark material. Jack the defacto protector of all things USA has not only an evil twin brother but an evil father to boot? Oh and not just that but his mentor is evil too. Then there's baby Bauer who may or may not be Jack's kid because of some long gone love affair with his evil twin brother's wife. 24 always gives us the unexpected but one would think that someone with Jack's strong convictions would have been raised by someone of similar standards and not have a such a weasly brother. I'm also still perplexed why they didn't get Donald Sutherland in there as Jack's dad. Talk about ready made casting. After the train wreck that was season six, it's probably for the best that he wasn't involved.

Plus every other plot point of the season we had already experienced in the first 5 seasons. Outside of the lame family drama, everything about it was recycled from previous years.

I think season 6 was a case of the writers seriously being burnt out after working 10 of 12 months a year for 6 years. The writers just got lazy 2 years ago.

Re: Twenty Four (24) -- Season 7 Premiere -- "8:00am-10:00am" -- 1/11/09

Watched all the seasons in the past 2 months so everything is still fresh in my mind and yeah, the family stuff wasnt the best, I agree, but no worse than say the bs that Kim had to go through in season 2 (or hell 1 for that matter). And yeah, recycled themes but again this was the case in pretty much all seasons. I mean at what point in the past few years will they begin to actually realize that Jack knows what he is talking about and isnt trying to do something against the US, however they still dont listen. This is something that has gotten on my nerves after watching disc after disc.

Again, Im not disgareeing that this wasnt the strongest season, but I just don't see it as a train wreck so many make it out to be. Maybe its a case of just not being a fan for so long and just jumping on the band wagon the past 2 months, without really digesting everything. Pretty much been all 24 all day since Dec 26th.

Does the conversation volume seem low compared to the background music? I have to keep turning the volume up and down, especially when commercials come on.

The commercials are killing me. Soooo much louder than the show! Moreso than usual, it seems!

Yeah, the audio is really low and seems to be improperly mixed tonight. Had my receiver jacked up to 51 when it's usually set to 32.

So far so good. I'm glad she just took Jack's hunch on the shooter escaping. Usually a lot of time is wasted when people don't trust Jack.

Well this wasn't bad...wasn't fantastic, but certainly not bad.

It looks like they got all the cliches out of the way early which is nice.

Something was missing from this one. Might have been a good idea to air the movie before the first two episodes.
