Superstars of Dance
Anyone watch this show ?
Thoughts ? |
Re: Superstars of Dance
Dumb. More political scoring than actual judge scoring of the dances.

Re: Superstars of Dance
This was one of those shows that's perfect for DVR. I think I watched the second 2 hour episode in a half hour. While I enjoy seeing the wide range of styles, a lot of the routines just weren't very interesting. Another problem is I don't have any frame of reference as to whether or not these regional dances are done well or simply done. Take the tribal dances... are there benchmarks that separate the best in that style from the average? Or are we just supposed to be impressed by the fact it's being done at all?

Re: Superstars of Dance
HORRIBLE show.
From Flatley's monotone, to the awful performances (seriously, the popper from the U.S. was light years better on SYTYCD and the Indian pair sucked), to the ethnic outfits on the judges, to the uneven scoring (how the hell did that awesome group from S. Africa get a lower score than the generic Irish dancers?), to the stupid shots of the presumably American audience enthusiastically waving Chinese and South African flags...a fucking train wreck of a show. My friend compared the spectacle (especially the international judging panel) to something out of Austin Powers. Only plus: the Miss America co-host. |
Re: Superstars of Dance
It's a brutal show to watch. The concept is solid, but the execution sucks. And Flatley once agains proves that his charisma begins and ends with his feet. He has no personality whatsoever.

Re: Superstars of Dance
Have to say this show was awful. It's supposed to be a best dancers from their respective countries, but somehow I got the feeling they just weren't the best. But it was hard to tell because the camera work was atrocious. You don't need to zoom in on the dancers' faces when you're trying to watch their footwork. The directing was just bad. The Irish dancers taps were canned, the review of scores after every dance was unnecessary, the judges provide no insight to their questionable scores, the host was dull... the whole format is just wrong.
You can't judge these different types of dance against each other with judges that don't know much about the other dances. It should have been purely an exhibition with insight on what makes the dance unique and how to understand the intricacies. And since when is a kung fu demo considered dance? I'll stick to So You Think You Can Dance |
Re: Superstars of Dance
Never watched an episode. Looks too damn cheesy even compared to Dancing with the Stars. Don't care for Flatley either.

Re: Superstars of Dance
Also, did anyone notice that all the representatives from India spoke with distinctly North American accents? Which leads me to believe Team India is actually Team Indian-American, which sort of takes away from the 'national competition' aspect.

Re: Superstars of Dance
Yeah, the only reason to watch is that Miss USA co-host. Somebody post some pics!
I was thinking the same thing on that China group "dance".... how are they going to judge this since it looks like a Karate exhibition? Lo and behold they get 9's and 10's! |
Re: Superstars of Dance
yeah i gotta admit this show is bad
I just wanna punch out Flatley That would make a better show seeing Flatley in the ring getting the tar beaten out of him |

Thumbs Down! (I can't get the smiley to work) |
Re: Superstars of Dance
Did this show bomb in the ratings?
I thought this was the show produced by Simon Cowell. |
Re: Superstars of Dance
I heard it was doing OK in the ratings. IMO this and America's Got Talent need to go off the air now. Nigel (the strange Brit on SYTYCD) is behind this show.
