Jon & Kate Plus 8 -- Shark jumper?

OK, I've already admitted I don't watch much TV, but one of my guilty pleasures had been Jon & Kate Plus 8. Does anybody else think this show has jumped the shark?

It used to be an entertaining look at a large family ... now it seems like every episode is "Look at us -- we are celebrities and we're going to (fill in travel destination here)."

I guess that is the danger of "reality" TV -- soon the unknown people become known for no good reason.

I'd tend to agree with you. I really enjoyed watching it when it more of a look at how a family with multiples handles every day happenings. However, I started to lose interest when almost every episode was a "field trip" to some sort of attraction.

That really bugs me as well but I still love the show, mainly for Jon and Kate's interactions with each other.

I enjoy Little People, Big World....don't think that's jumped the shark yet, but I may just enjoy the week to week stories of their lives.

They need to recast the Kate character.

I love Kate. She's so bitchy but I like it.

I still enjoy it, but I can see your point about them traveling everywhere now. It was nicer when it seemed like they were just a family dealing with so many kids.

I wouldn't consider it jumping the shark though. Maybe if they add more kids.

I bought my wife hundreds of dollars in Christmas gifts. What does she like the most / use the most? The $10 Jon & Kate + 8 Seasons 1/2 DVD set. Seriously. I hate this show.

I can't stand the show, and have only seen bits and pieces of it as I channel surfed or the gf had it one. I get annoyed by how they act like superparents even though there's always two or three other adults walking around in the background taking care of the kids.

Kate's a total bitch, the kind of "professional parent" that I just can't stand...but I'd do her in a heartbeat.

i think it's done to mix it up a bit, so you don't just see them in the house all the time.

Jon's a tool, Kate's a bitch and the kids are little brats.

I didn't mind it when they went on the field trips early on (i.e., the pumpkin patch, etc.). But when the trips became trips that a "normal family" would not take ... the episode where they got to a Phillie's game (since the clip was posted above) is a perfect example ... I would have loved to have seen Jon take the kids and sit in the stands and enjoy the game (or try to). But instead, we pawn it off as "I thought it would be great to take my kids to ballgame ... and, oh, by the way, we're arriving early and getting comped all kinds of merchandise and sitting in the president's box! Then we're going to go down to the locker room after the game!" Yeah -- that was all Jon's idea & anybody could do it.

I'm thinking Sarah Chalke to play the Kate part next season ...

Jon seems like a pretty normal guy to me. Kate's kind of bitchy sometimes (like the clip above), and one of the older girls is bratty, but the rest seem pretty normal to me as well.

I remember listening to clips of this show on O&A and I couldn't stand the clips I heard of Kate. John just sounded like a beaten man.

Re: Jon & Kate Plus 8 -- Shark jumper?

Every time my wife tunes into this show (which, thankfully, isn't regularly), I look at Jon and I can hear his interior monologue: "As soon as they cancel this series, I'm outta here, bitch!" You can just see the guy imagining the beach he plans on hitting, surrounded by naked, childless women the moment he's not on TV anymore every time she opens her mouth to chastise him for something.
