Sci Fi Channel possibly changing name to Beyond
seen it reported at dread central that Sci Fi might be changing there name to Beyond. Yeah
Their programming has been sci-fi and beyond for awhile now so it makes sense.
This just invites the criticism that their programming is beyond lame.
Googling shows this rumor was around back in September. Apparently they did some surveys or focus groups asking how people would feel about the name change.
Changing from COURT TV to TRUE! didn't improve the programming any .... why bother.
..so it can be Sci-fi and Fantasy without argument.
AMC needs to change their name. If they are going to keep playing stuff like "The Skulls" and "Constantine", they should really think about subtracting the Classics from their name.

The worst movie I've seen on AMC is definitely Pinata: Survival Island.

That's why they just call themselves the acronym "AMC" now - to de-emphasize the name "American Movie Classics" (Of course, they could've just changed their name to something like "American Movie Channel" and still used the same acronym).

Kind of like TLC doesn't have any shows that you can learn anything from.

MTV and VH1 need a name change. Musics Television and Video Hits First are the last thing those channels are now.

While I wish they'd bring back stuff like Sliders, SeaQuest, and old Irwin Allen shows, the percentage of their original series that's good is better than most networks. There'll probably be a lag after Atlantis and BSG end before they come up with something good, just like when Farscape ended.
They could rename it the craptastic movie channel and it still wouldn't describe 90% of the fecal waste they show on a daily basis (at least as far as the movies go).
I wish they would get the next season of Eureka on the air and i really miss The Dresden Files. They cancelled it for Flash Gordon i believe. Or Painkiller Jane. Neither of which is coming back.
Maybe they should change the name to "Crappy Saturday Night Movie Channel".

What do those Sci Fi originals fall under? It sure aint Sci Fi or Horror or anything good.
The person who programs this stuff should be fired. What happened to old reruns of good sci fi shows like Bionic Woman and 6 Million Dollar Man? You can't even get them on DVD. There there is Scare Tatics and the Ghost Chasers TV show. Blahhh. |
