NBC Cancels My Own Worst Enemy and Lipstick Jungle
http://www.thrfeed.com/2008/11/nbc-cancels-ene.html
NBC has pulled the plug on freshman tentpole drama "My Own Worst Enemy" and returning sophomore series "Lipstick Jungle," sources say.
The cancellation comes after both shows dropped to new lows in the ratings in recent weeks, with the Christian Slater action series sinking to a 1.8 among adults 18-49 (4.3 million viewers) on Monday night and "Lipstick" falling to a 1.2 (3.3 million viewers) on Friday.
Though the "Lipstick" number was an improvement on the previous week, the show's ratings have been below the line for a while now, and sunk into the red zone after the drama moved to Fridays.
NBC's expectation for the return of "Lipstick" was modest, but "Enemy" was considered an important show. A spy thriller with a grown-up budget inspired by the Bourne movies, "Enemy" received NBC's coveted post-"Heroes" time period. That valuable Monday hour of scheduling real estate has become less worthwhile in recent weeks, however, as "Heroes" shed viewers -- weakening the lead-in for "Enemy" and hastening its decline.
No word whether Monday's episode will be yanked from the schedule, or if the show will solider on for a few more weeks, or what program will take its place. "Enemy" is currently shooting its ninth -- and final -- episode. "Lipstick" has shot all 13 of its initial order. Both are produced by Universal Media Studios; NBC had no comment.

now I can go delete those unwatched My Own Worst Enemy episodes from my Tivo. I had a feeling this was going to get the axe. Was the show any good? I was Tivo'ng it due to my fear it would be canceled and not wanting to get involved with a doomed show. Any opinions on the value of the show?

My Own Worst Enemy definitely required some suspension of disbelief, and there's the whole question of "Why would they do that?" surrounding the central premise. But beyond that, the show was at least entertaining. I can't believe it got cancelled when crap like Knight Rider gets a full season.

I watched 3 episodes of My Own Worst Enemy and thought it was mildly entertaining. Not a shocker that it got the axe. I went ahead and deleted this past Monday's episode since there is no point watching now.
As for Lipstick Jungle, I actually liked season 1. I have 6 episodes back up from this season (watched the premiere) and I'm debating whether to watch them or not now.

NBC did the same thing to My Own Worst Enemy that they did to Journeyman - they stuck it in a time slot after a show with declining ratings and pitted it against one of the CSI shows. You don't do that to rookies. Although, at least NBC advertised Worst Enemy; they didn't do squat for Journeyman.

I held off on watching any of MOWE until I knew if this would happen for sure or not. Oh well, at least I don't have yet another show I need to catch up on and start to watch.

Conveniently, this announcement comes AFTER I decided to stop watching MOWE on Monday. Had this been a week ago, I might have been unhappy (but not likely)
No surprise about Lipstick. My girlfriend watched it, but wasn't attached to it. We knew the writing was on the wall with the Friday move.

I dont watch either, but I'd rather them take the hit than Knight Rider. And I still miss Bionic Woman

well, I WOULD have watched MOWE, but I couldn't, because my DVR couldn't record it on account of Samantha Who going till 10:01 every monday, and the other tuner recording CSI:Miami.
I really thought the networks cut out the extra minute crap last season. Can't believe they're still doing it.

Not really. People who DVR it usually won't watch it live, and they most likely aren't Nielson families either. Whether they watch it or not, after they DVR it, what's the difference?

Bummer, I was digging MOWE. FX needs a Monday night show so I can keep myself busy when football isn't on.

I saw only 2 episodes of "My Own Worst Enemy" and agree that it was fair-to-middlin but with a lot of action and intrigue. It was probably too expensive to produce for the ratings it was getting. Never watched the other one.
