CSI: -- "Art Imitates Life" -- 10/23/08

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

The team investigates a series of bizarre deaths in which the victims are found frozen in place, some standing upright, doing ordinary activities. At the lab, a new CSI (Lauren Lee Smith) joins the night shift.

Lauren Lee Smith joins the cast tonight. She's essentially replacing Jorja Fox on the night shift.

What happened to Liz Vassey joining the team full time?

Pretty good episode. The bodies looked like mannequins tonight though.

DJariya 10-24-08 12:41 AM

Every article I've read said that Liz Vassey and David Berman were promoted to series regulars this season. I'm just as puzzled as you are.

Nick Martin 10-24-08 01:59 AM

They are credited as "Special Guest Stars" now.

The killer in the end of tonight's episode was familiar. He was The Chechen mob boss in "The Dark Knight", who Joker eventually had cut up and fed to his own dogs.

Ah, good times. :)

Riley Adams is a very nice addition to the team, and I'm glad she's there. Lot of subtle moments with Grissom and Greg regarding their coping with the loss of Warrick. Tambor was a genuine weirdo tonight. He was great. That exchange with him and Brass about the badge...eww.

That is a large upgrade in hotness.

When I first saw Lauren Lee Smith, I was like "Why is AJ Cook (Jereau on Criminal Minds) on the show?" they look pretty similar. I like how Lauren Lee Smith came right in and was making jokes and being sarcastic.

I did enjoy that aspect. Especially the one with David glancing at Grissom for approval. "I'm never going to forget this."

Whatever happened to the British Female cop that used to be on the show?

You mean Louise Lombard? She's a Brit actress, but played an American. She left the show 2 years ago to star in her own show that never got picked up.

Nick Martin 10-24-08 11:34 AM

She never formally left so she could potentially just show up, if the chance came up.

Detective Vartan was in this episode, and hasn't been seen in an even longer period of time, so anything could happen.

I like the fact that they managed to give the new CSI a personality without burdening her with a ton of story baggage right off the bat. I like her snarkiness so far.

Well they also did a superb job with Liev Shreiber so they seem to be 2 for 2 so far(in regards to CSI team members). Gives me hope for Fichburne's character.

Really? I hated how she came right in and started cracking jokes.

Then who's replacing Warrick?

Joe Schmoe 10-26-08 12:53 PM

Stupid episode IMHO. Ranks up there with the worst of them, including the one about vampires, the one about people dressing up in fur, the one about a man wearing a diaper and being mothered by his mistress.

Oh come on, the furries episode was a classic. My wife was like "people actually do this?"

Not a fan of this season so far.

Whatever happened to the CSI that joined the team last season? Ronnie or whatever her name was. She seems to have vanished without a trace.

Which is a good thing.

Don't forget the episode where the lady got off having sex with clowns! The fetish-based episodes are awesome! :)

I enjoyed this episode, although the whole carbon monoxide posing apparatus was a little too SAW-ish for me.

And the killer sounded like he was using a HORRIBLE Christopher Walken impersonation.

Without them, we wouldn't have Lady Heather.

It must have been bad, because I didn't think it sounded anything like Walken. :D

I had the exact same thought. Was trying and failing to do Walken's voice cadence.

Though I guess if we noticed it, it wasn't that bad...
