So I guess we will have to ressurect all the season three threads for when the rest of us see it on NBC. If these air commercial free, will they be for a full 60 minutes or the usual 40-45 minutes. I hate to think they would cut episodes once they get to NBC.

Silly promo video for you non-DirecTV viewers (since if you have DirecTV, they've been hard to miss)...

Riggins the tailback.... He's what, 20?
Good premiere. What was it, 48 minutes or so? I like how they're doing the Smash stuff thus far, but they never really showed much of what happened last season. And I know he's not really well liked around here, but what happened to Street?
I know there's always a QB controversy with any team, but I wish they'd just not have that freshman QB stuff now.
Mrs. Coach.
Buddy never fails to bring the funny.
But seriously, how old are Tyra, Riggins, and Lyla?

Best episode in a long time, in my opinion. It felt a lot like a season one ep to me. I know it was only the premiere, but it seems like they are going to really focus on the core characters, as it should be.
Cutting Jason Street and all of his excruciatingly lame storylines was brilliant. As for Smash, I wasn't so sure how wise it would be to keep him around, but, so far so good there. I also have to disagree with the above poster about the QB controversy. I really liked when there was a competition between Saracen and Voodoo in season one, and this one looks like it could be interesting, depending on how over the top the writers decide to go with the dad and what not.
Julie seemed a tad more obnoxious than usual in this episode, but I can't really complain about anything else.

Definitely an extended episode. It ended 51 minutes into the hour (commercial free ) but it also started with an extended recap (probably about 3 or 4 minutes).
The first 10-15 minutes seemed a bit angsty and melodramatic and I was worried the show had lost "it" but then it brought it back around and ended very, very strong. Really looking forward to this season and I am so glad it's back.

Absolutely fantastic season premiere.
Huge props to Jason Katims for writing a solid episode and actually going back to what made people love this show in the 1st place. It was very cool to see the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday countdowns to Gameday. I don't recall seeing those at all last season.
The scene with Coach Taylor screaming at the players about the Smoothee Truck was fricking hilarious.
The scene with Riggins brother giving him a lecture about women was pretty damn funny time.
I heard that Scott Porter will be guest starrring sometime this season. It was a very wise move to dump him and Gaius Charles as regulars.
Yes, and thank God Lyla dumped Jesus!!
Did I hear Tyra correctly? So she and Landry broke up, but they are still hanging out together like buddies?
Anyways, looking forward to the next 12 weeks. BTW, loved the fact that it was an extended episode. Sorry NBC viewers.

Grr...missed it. Gonna have to be "creative" to watch this or force my parents to record it and make a trip over there this weekend.
