ack - I have DirecTV, but had no idea they had it on last night (I assumed my season pass would catch it, but I guess not). Will they re-play it?

Just a quick glance at upcoming showings, and it appears it's "only" airing at 8:00p & 11:00p (central time) Wednesdays and Fridays.

So not re-running it nearly as much as I figured they would.

I'm glad this show is back and all that, but one thing I simply cannot buy is Tammy as the PRINCIPAL of the freakin' school. It's ridiculous to see her go from stay-at-home mom to guidance counselor ("Let's talk about your grades and feelings") to principal just like that. I think it's a stupid addition to the show, almost on par with the whole murder subplot of last season.

Don't you have to have a masters (or in some cases a phd) in education in order to even be considered for a high school principal job?

Do we know she doesn't have a Master's? I agree that you probably need that but I'd also guess you'd need that to be a guidance counseler.

I had problems getting past that too, especially with her husband working at the school.

I think in rural, small town USA, anything is possible.
When I heard a couple of months ago that she was going to be promoted to
principal, I thought it was alittle far-fetched. But, if done right.. it could work.

I was rolling when Coach was having a PRESS CONFERENCE.
He's a High School football coach.
Then I remembered: He's a football coach in Texas.
Rural, small town Dillion, Texas.
They have press conferences for HS football.

My High School made the list. Then again we had turf back in the early 90's when I was there.

It is that way at a lot of districts around Austin.

I liked how they caught the viewers up on what happened between Coach getting jealous of Tammy's old beau showing up trying to woo her, and now.

Tammy as the principal was one of those "stylus scritching across a spinning record" moments because I can't really fathom how that really happens, unless Buddy (& company) set it up.

Saracen being the possible odd man out this early sets the stage for more unexpected heroics if the freshman phenom gets hurt late in the season if Coach decides on starting him over Saracen due to enticements and pressure from the alumni association (Buddy and J.D.'s dad).

Just glad to have this show back, it is still bringing home the entertainment value (sadly, many returning shows this season aren't quite doing it for me, so I welcome back FNL with open arms).

"You're a rebound from Jesus" That whole scene was great.

The principal at the first school I taught at went from gym teacher, to athletic director, to principal so I can see Tammy's career path as plausible, especially because of who her husband is. That principal at the time was as incompetent as you would expect someone who had that career path so it should be interesting to see how they deal with it.

I buy Tammy becoming principal. This is a small, rural Texas town. Keep in mind that she'd be paid nearly nothing and for someone as competent and devoted to the school as she is, I could see the promotion happening fast.

Even despite its flaws, a bad episode of FNL is still some great TV!

Stuff like this shouldn't bother me, but far more egregious than Tammy as principal is that Riggins, along with Lyla and Tyra, have been seniors 3 years in a row now. I'm really, really distracted by that.

Yeah, and that just has to be really poor planning on Jason Katims part. You don't launch a series with nearly half your series regulars in their senior year. It just doesn't make sense unless you are planning on getting cancelled after your first season. I wonder how he'll make Saracen a senior again next year?

All those complaints aside the show is good enough that I'm willing to set aside those problems if he needs to ignore the previously established facts to tell a great story.

This was a great opener. The pace of the show has been upped a bit. It was even a bit trashy at times (OTH/GG), but it worked. I liked it a lot and am glad to have it back.

Mrs Coach becoming Mrs Principal is so unrealistic its not funny

Tyra's new haircut looks horrible

Lyla is looking hotter thank god

good to see Smash still in the show

Saracen and the new stud quarterback should be good and Tammie v Buddy

The look on Buddys face when Riggins was kissing Lyla was priceless
